my bf joined me at the doc for my first OB. It was there when he told me that twins run on his dads side of the family. Apparently his father is a single and he had brothers that were twins and a brother and a sister that were twins. What are the chances that I could be carying twins? does it come from the mother? the father? the mothers mother? I dont know! It is kind of exciting, but scary!

I've been told it fraternal twins run on mom's side and identical twins are completely random.

Twins come from the mother's side of the family...and not the father's. If you have a daughter, then she will be more likely to have twins when she has children. Like the previous poster said, identical twins are just a blessing that happens totally random to everyone. Good luck!

Here is how it was explained to me. In order for you to have twins, it must run on your side of the family. Either from your mother's side or your father's side. A male can't produce twins but if he has a daughter she can have twins. Because it is in her genes through her father. So just because your b/f has twins on his side, the chances of you having fraternal twins is unlikely unless you have them on your side. But if you have a daughter, she is able to produce twins because they run on her father's side. I hope I made that to make sense.
