Hi , I was diagnosed with a bicomuate uterus and PCOS . Just wondering if anyone has had a successful pregnancy with a bicomuate uterus . My doctor explained to me that with that type of uterus you usually don't make full term as your uterus is 50% smaller than the usual and this scares me . Any good news stories would be great ??

Hello my name is Elanea and I was diagnosed with a bicornate uterus at 18. I was told the same thing that it would be nearly impossible to get pregnant and if I did I would not carry to term either through miscarrige or preterm. I got pregnant in 2003 and lost the baby by the time I was 4 weeks. Then in 2005 I got pregnant with my son. I was put on bedrest early on but I also had the same doctor that diagnosed me with the bicornate. So he knew of my condition which makes it easier. I was told to expect not to carry, or I would have him by the sixth month. Well I carried him two days past my due date. He was 8lbs 9oz and 21 1/2 inches long. While I was delivering him the doctors could not believe I was actually carrying such an enormous baby to have a bicornate uterus. After my son I then got pregnant in 2007 I miscarried after 4 1/2 months but I lived in another state and the doc did not believe me about my uteurs. So precautionary measures were not taken. He said once the babu attaches itself it is hard to see if you truly have a bicornate. It was devastating. I had no plans on having another child and was perfectly content on having my one son. I figured he is a blessing from GOD. So my son will be 6 in Oct and I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with twins! HA surprise to me! I surely did not think I would carry them but I am back with my old doctor and was put on bedrest again early on I am starting to feel the pressure thought. But twins are considered full term at 37 weeks. They are measuring over 4 lbs a piece now and even if I had them today they would be ok. I feel very blessed and all I can say is have faith. Doctors do not hold all power. They can only tell you what they read from a book! Be patient and remember as hard as it is never give up trying if it does not work the first time! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Hi Elanea , WOW i cant believe there is someone out there im speaking to with the same condition , thankyou for sharing your story its the first time i now have some hope .
Were you on Clomid ? If so what dose ?
Im on 50mg days 2-6 this is my 2nd round . Im so scared about falling pregnant though because of the miscarriage risk .
Can i ask the doctor that did know about your condition what treatment did he have to do to you to give you the safe pregnancy ?
Thanks

Hey honey first off no I was not on clomid nor have I ever been. I am not fond of medicine and very rarely take anything that is not natural. As far as me carrying that far along. I was monitored very very closely. He even was skeptical he kept telling me to prepare for the worst. However I believe that bed rest and stress free environment helped. Because when I miscarried the second time when I was 4 1/2 months along the doctor did not order bedrest he did not give me a work order for limited restriction. . From 10 weeks on with my current doctor it was full restriction. I saw him once a week and had concurrent NST test. With the doctor out of state, I worked two jobs and was finishing up a degree. He did not care. I think that makes all the difference. My doctor is from Hattiesburg Ms and any one of the doctors at forest general hospital can help. I do not know if bed rest and relaxation will help everyone but it was necessary for me. I also did stretches every day. I do not know what really safe treatment there is because as far as medically. I am still not suppose to be carrying around over 8lbs of baby. Each of my babies right now weigh over 4 lbs. Twins run in my family and I just never knew that it would happen to me! HAHA. There is always hope! I had planned on adopting if I could not have my own. My sophmore year in college I wrote a piece on adopting, you would be surprised how many children need homes. I stil plan on it. I am having two boys so that makes three. One day I will adopt a little girl around 7 or 8. So there is always hope it just depends on how big of a difference you want to make!

Hey , wow I can't believe your 2nd doctor that's so bad that he basically let that happen even in a normal pregnancy what you were doing was a lot . I too am not a fan of medication but found out I don't ovulate all the time so I had too . So you had one miscarriage ? How long were you TTC before your son was born ? I had feeling these types of pregnancies would have to be monitored regularly . I'm from Australia but my specialist I have is very good . Its funny you mention adoption because I am adopted too when I was 2 days old best thing to ever happen . I have to tell you I was so happy to read your reply I couldn't find anywhere any success stories with this type of uterus so I was excited to know of your luck Thankyou xx
