Presc Clomid HCG And IUI

After over 2 years of trying and loads of tests, I am booked to start 50 or 100 clomid, HCG and IUI (fully monitored). I know that the multiple rate for clomid is around10%, does this increase with IUI and/or HCG? We would prefer to have a single baby, would accept twins, but definately don't want HOM, how may follicles is too many for a 30 year old? And has anyone requested a transfer to IVF if there are too many follicles?

I had 4 mature follicles when I had my IUI shot. I was also on pergonal though. You can tell by my user name that we got more than one baby! If I were to try for another baby I would definitely cancel the cycle if I saw more than 2 mature follicles. I don't think I would transfer to IVF because that is so much more involved, you still transfer 2-3 embryos and you have a slightly higher risk of an embryo twinning. Good luck! I hope you get your baby!

We did 2 rounds of puregon & IUI. First time didn't take. The 2nd time the does us upped & we used a final HcG shot. Now 8wks preg. with twins! We're thrilled, yet afraid as we've had multiple miscarriages. I don't know what's a good follicle count. This time we had 3 fully mature & 2 luking in the background. I'm in my "early 30s"! Good luck, it can be scary. We felt that IVF was too complicated & would increase our risk of multiples. My cousin has triplets...that was enough to scare me off!

Thanks. I will probably cancel if I have more than 2 follicles. Is there a difference between using clomid or using puregon? Puregon seems to have less side effects, especially since my clinic uses it in small doses. Should I consider asking my doctor about this option?

On our first IUI try, I had 6 mature follicles and we still went ahead - I got pregnant with a singleton which I miscarried at 10 weeks. When we went again for IUI I only had 3 mature follicles and since I only get pregnant w/one the first time didn't think twice... fast forward to now... 6 mos old trio!!! I think it is a coin toss.. good luck!!
