Hi, I'm doing my research as I want to start TTC in December of 2010! I have one child, a son and am hoping to get fraternal twins while taking Clomid. The research I'm doing is very conflicting and I was hoping someone could lay it out for me!
I've read that Clomid can up your chances of twins by 10% and could be more if you have twins in the family?
***My great grandmother had one set of fraternal twin boys...does anyone know how much that is going to help me? :)
I've also read that Clomid has to be taken during certain times during my cycle..what times? And, how many mg should I be taking...
Another question....anyone know any other ways to up the chances of having twins?? Foods? Etc?
Thanks,
Amber Lei

Amber - Clomid does increase your chances of having twins but only by 6%. The only way family history is going to play a role in this is if there is a history of hyperovulation in your family. I have not met many people here who have got twins from clomid. I have been on this site for 2 years and I have only seen about a dozen twin pregnancies.
Clomid does have to be taken on very specific days. Most OB's prescribe clomid to be taken cd5-9. You will normally start at 50mg a day. If successful ovulation does not occur then that dose is upped to 100mg.
Hope this helps
