Twins Yolk Sacs And The Like

I am 6 wks 1 day with my second. I'm wondering about this pregnancy because on 06/14/05 my HCG was 166 which was approx. 4 wks 1 day. On 06/21/05, a week later my HCG was 5,195 which was 5 wks 1 day. My concern is that at my first OB appt. on 06/23/05 my doc ordered an U/S which showed only a gest. sac and a yolk sac but that is all. I thought it might be early for a heartbeat but I thought I might see atleast a fetal pole. I go back on 06/30/05 for my second U/S and what I'm wondering is could the HCG be high because it could be a multiple and you just couldn't see anything and if so do twins (identical) share a yolk sac along with the gestational sac or do they each have their own? I guess I just thought at an HCG of 5,195 we should have seen more. Anyone else have any comparisons or advice?

I am pregnant with twins and my HcG's were 1450 at 4 weeks, 1 day and 2880 at 4 weeks 3 days. Hope that helps.

I would think you would have been able to see both at your 6 week u/s. That's when we saw our twins - in two sacs, however, at 6w1d. Identical twins share everything - they are together in the sac and nothing separates them. If that is what you have, then it might be harder to see them. Fraternal are in two completely different sacs, so on my u/s we saw black with two white ovals - and black dots inside (the baby). At the rate your hCG is jumping, I'd maybe ask for another u/s soon to see what is up - mine tripled every 2 days in the beginning (hCG levels).
