Not only does the male's egg have to contain this but the female's has has to be receptive to it which is not common. There is about a .05% chance for conceiving identical twins and a 3% chance for conceiving fraternal twins.

There aren't any real SURE options for conceiving twins, IVF I'm sure is the most effective if you have a normal fertility rate and implant two embryos, however a few natural things can help you along:
1. Loads of milk and dairy products.
2. Taking folic acid before conceiving
3. Twins in your family's history.
4. Being from African decent
5. Eating a lot of yams (sweet potatoes)
6. (This is a stretch) already b___stfeeding while conceiving raises your chances of twins by up to 5 times that of a normal woman.
7. Some scientists claim that a third kind of twin pregnancy exists - that is two sperms fertilising one egg - so it couldn't hurt to try your hardest to shove as many sperm cells up there as you can (pardon my blatancy)
8. Previous pregnancies.
9. Being over the age of 35 with increased ovary production of hormones and such.
10. Being d__n lucky.
Hope this helps. :]

melleab - Thanks for the advice. I think out of 10 I might have 4 in my favor. I am 41 and I am African American and I take folic acid and I do eat a lot of dairy but I guess I could eat more. How are you doing? Krissy

Melleab - We have a family friend who has a long history of using aboriginal healing - and she also says dairy, dairy, dairy. Her daughter conceived after 14 years of trying by loading up on cream, milk, and cheese for ONE month. She gained 12 lbs that month - but it was worth it!
Krissy68, I love, love, love reading your posts. You delight me every time you ask how the person you are adressing is doing. I've asked the universe to make your November procedure a raging success and then deliver the babies you are so hoping for. Stay positive, girl - because it's a proven fact that good things come to those who DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!!!
Best, Lala
