Why Do The Perscribe Clomid

I have never heard of the medication and was wondering why do they perscibe it?Is it cause you have problems with trying to conceive or do you just request it? Another ? now when you do conceive and they are twins they are not identical ,am I correct?

It is a medication to stimulate the ovaries. It if for women that are not ovulating on there own or maybe their husbands have a low sperm count so it would give them more of a chance to conceive since one side affect is it may cause the person taking it to release more than one egg. That is why a lot of woman are coming onto the twin boards with questions about clomid since some of the ladies on here conceived twins because of this drug. It is a prescribed drug since there are risks to it and should be closely monitored by a DR after the fertility issue has been diagnosed.
The twins that are conceived from taking clomid would most likely be fraternal since it causes more eggs to release. Identical would be one egg, fertilized by one sperm and then splitting in half.
