I remember you from before my son was born (he is 12 months now).. I remember how you were trying for twins and were a little down with finding you were having a boy (was that you?) anyway I am going to try the ericsson method (costs about $1000) to have a girl... May even fork over the big bucks for the Microsort thing (but probably not). I'll also be using Clomid and Ovidrel to boost my chances.. At first it was going to be unprescribed but if I go with the ericsson method they give women Clomid to increase their chances!!! So thats good news for me :) Anyway I have a thread on the general questions board called "Unconventional TTC" if you want to check it out... I cant remember if your Clomid was unprescribed or not but I am sure the girls on the board would love to hear your story... I know you knew some of the others a while back and might have some advice for them... Nice to see you again! -Laura

hi laura, yes it is I!!lol i am the one a year ago who was trying to have twins on unprescribed clomid....the idea was i wanted 4 kids in total as it took me quite a bit to convince my husband to have a 3rd and i wanted a girl becasue i already had two boys and also hoped i could have twins so she wont be alone and i never have to ask my hubby again to knock me up!!!!lol...i know i know...wishful thinking or what??? but i guess we all have our dreams and desires...i suppose you remember alot of people fell pregnant on unprescribed clomid and managed to have the twins they so wanted...i thought i would be one of those but no...i had another singleton baby and it was lo behold another boy!!! i had a lot of grilling on these boards for taking clomid unprescribed etc etc...and at the time i did get so emotional and very deep into it trying to tell people it was my decision and my body and yet also finding it hard to take all the critisim and accusations....its funny because today i am back to where i was then on unprescribed clomid, trying for another baby girl and although twins would be a nice idea..it is not my intention to have them this time round...i am taking the clomid becasue i am breasfeeding and my cycles were all over the place..the clomid has helped regulate my cycle and it is actually brilliant for incraeasing milk supply!!!i also know because i am using the timing method for a girl it increases, if only slightly, the chances for conceiving a girl. so i am hoping clomid will do those thing for me...if i end up with twins i wont complain unless they end up being boys...oh god no!!!lol...ah bless... but seriously...after all my episodes of early pregnancy bleeding, my conception days, and the result afterwards i know that the chances of conceiving twins on clomid arent any higher than that without....i am living proof here..i ended up thinking i was going to have a mc with my boy for about 2 months i rushed in and out of the emergency women's unit at my local hospital...because i bled on and off from week 6 and i know for certain it was due to the clomid!!!! but that all gone and dusted now and my boy came out a healthy 11lb and he is the most amazing boy..he is so cuddly and so cute we have nicknamed him pooh bear because he looks like him!!!! i am now seriously trying for a girl this time and now that i am O due to the clomid i am very very strict about my timed BD. i am also interested into the ericson method and my hubby has promised if we dont fall pregnant in the next 2 months while trying for a girl we will maybe go for sperm sorting too!!! your so lucky for only having to pay a $1000. here in the UK it will cost us 3 times that. it costs 5000 pounds which is near $10,000 for one attempt of ericsson...so you can understand i am desperate for a girl but we dont have the means to go and spend that kind of money easily! but nevertheless the timing method is harder and takes a long time so i may also go down your route...and yes husband has come round the idea but now for good....4 will be our no no more kids after that for sure even for me!!! as for twins..its its still a dream...i will be lying if i deny that there is that little bit of desire and hope still left to know that clomid may increase the chances...but unlike last time this time it is not my intention at all!!! do keep us updated about your ericcson procedure...and let us know when you are having it done.... i am so muhc more easy this time round and i stick to the opinion that people can chose to do what is right for them and it has to be respected...we all ave a reason whihc is important to us of why we do the things we do....i am also member of the twoweekwait site and its amazing how people are so supportive there...there are people with 2-5 kids trying for more and moaning and groaning about how it is not happening for them....yet others who may have not even got one chaild andhave been trying for years can understand that and see the questions and posts for what they are...questions from other people in different situations and people different from yourself... it is important that everyone on these boards realises this...everyones own problem is a 'real' problem to them!!!to accuse and abuse them otherwise is selfishand ignorant and immature of them!!! i hope you get the girl you want and pray for all the other multiple mums out there a healthy and successful 9 months!!!

YAY I am so glad you wrote back.. Hey check out my thread on the general pregnancies board its called "Unconventional TTC" We changed our mind about the ericsson method. The clinic we chose only claims a 65% rate for girls :( way to much money for such a small chance!!! So I too am back on the unprescribed route!!! lol.. I'll be doing probably 100-150 mgs of Clomid for 7 not 5 days as that is a new trend that drs are trying out!! I gave all of my injectables away but I may still try one or two cycles of those if the Clomid doesn't work. BTW I am using the Shettles timming method to.. OH and I have 2 boys and will be trying for a girl and DH doesnt even want a 3rd so I am still having trouble convincing him,lol so of course I definitly want to get a girl this time!! lol. I've promised DH that if he does let me try then I'll get my tubes tied after the next one is born :( so I've got one more chance. Basically the same position you were in last year, hopefully I am luckier though as far as the girl thing goes!! and of couse... Maybe twins ;) Anyway though that other thread is all about that sorta thing.. Its dieing though because hardly anyone posts on it so maybe with your help we can get it moving :) Good luck and hope to talk to you again soon!

Yas I am surprised you are taking unprescribed clomid while nursing....it isn't recommended as it will transfer thru your milk to your baby. Please do your research. "Clomiphene is an antiestrogen and has been shown to cause reproductive tract abnormalities when given to baby rats. Clomiphene comes in two isomers (structural formations), one with a short half-life of several days and the other much longer. Since the drug will be found in b___st milk, it is contraindicated to use Clomiphene while b___st-feeding. Therefore, you must stop b___st-feeding " Every site I went to advised against clomid and nursing. It is one thing to take risks with YOUR body and quite another with an innocent child.

Wow twins4us although the advice wasnt for me thanks for the info. I am not b___st feeding but I was thinking of taking clomid to stabilize my menstrual cycle after having a baby. Last time I bled for 12wks and the time before I bled for 6 months!... Good to know because I do plan to b___st feed if I get the chance!

twins4us - April 23

Laura, no worries ;-). I know LOTS of gals come here for advice and seeking info. Unfortunately bad info is prepetuated with the good. I just want ladies to know that clomid and b/fing are not a good combo. I meant NO offense to you Yas.

julie2007 - April 23

clomid and b___stfeeding do not mix. i had to give up bf-ing so i could takw the clomid - per my OB.

twins4us - April 24

Hey Mama-beans NICE to "see" you here. I am still apalled at the ppl willing to self medicate with clomid w/o a doc supervision....I guess the number of babies which is no guarantee, is more important than their health of their unborn baby's health

yas2000 - April 24

no offence taken...twins4us and mama beans (oh gosh she is still here???lol still grilling eh? old habits DO die hard!!!lol)...but please let me tell you do not undermine other people's knowledge or intelligence based on minimal information given by them and preconception you develop by merely looking at their posts...you have no idea who we are, what we do and how we live and what kind of backround we come from!!!! i have 3 members of my family in the medical profession, am myself a professional and have done my extensive research on why one can and cannot take clomid while breasfeeding...i know for certain that saying it cannot be taken at all or they don't mix is palava because i know dozen's of women within family friends and outside...who have been prescirbed clomid while breasfeeding, albeit it is given in the later part of the nursing age of their babies who are predominantly weaned. i myself am a mother of 3 boys now, whom i love dearly and the last thing i would do is to put them at 'real' risk for whatever reason...and i know for certain that i am not putting my baby at risk at all. taking the clomid....and if any it will be so minimal as it would be for you feeding your babies junk food now and again or letting him/her place toys outside your home inside their mouth!!!! there is no real evidence that clomid causes any defects or problems in nursing mothers or their babies!!! it has shown as you so rightly stated to casue some defects in to unborn baby RATS! and common sense will tell us that we may not be immune to it either but again...noonw is prescribed clomid while pregnant!!!! i won't go into any scientific detail that i know of and have been informed by my numerous sourses...because i do agree that it is my choice and will not want to encourage anyone out there to follow my example blindly...i have done my research maybe more so than you (since i am actually taking the risk) and know why i can take that risk and not worry about it...clomid has increased my milk supply (which i was struggling with) and i am on the lowest dose..am on my second cycle and am planning ( on the advice of someone else who has taken it prescribed) only for 3 cycles. it has helped regulate my cycle now and together with the increased weaning i am back to a normal cycle and am O again. my boy has all his bits intact and i am sure he will stay well endowed and god willing he will be able to reproduce himself as many times he wants one day!!!..lol....nothing is going to fall off him anytime soon without physical intervention!!!lol clomid cannot mix with b___stfeeding if breasfeeding is exclusive due to the fact that breasfeeding acts as a natural contraception...so to be taking clomid while that is so is in effect pointless...it has only been prescribed to breasfeeding mothers when their cycles have returned and is irregular combined with any other infertilty problem if they have the desire to conceive again soon...and if one is considered to be fertile! common sense is needed to understand alot of these things and i am certain many of us here have that common sense...so please do not judge and undermine other people's knowledge as it may prove to undermine very those of you who do! i take unprescribed clomid only because i cannot afford private fertilty treatment (whihc costs in the hundreds) and of course on the NHS i cannot ask for it unless i have a serious fertlity issue....many women with fertilty issues prior to havning had children and then having had them are ent_tled to prescribed clomid when needed for the same needs that i have. but because i have had no problmes falling pregnant i won't get it for free!!!hence i have bought it unprescribed!anyway....thanks for your concerns and the info i do appreciate it! laura essary...i will definately come to your threadf soon....as soon as i put my baby back to sleep...!!!bye everyone!

freebird what do you mean by yas's history?what kind of 'strange' history are you referring to?i am not doing anything that is new and unusual and so i do suggest to lay of the grilling!i took clomid once to increase twins but hey it never worked i discourage it and would never recommend it. also this time i am not doing it for that intention at all!!!! my doctor is aware of my clomid and has given me full support to monitor me. he cannot prescribe it to me so he was the one who suggested the online pharmacy i can get it from because i am not officially rendered infertile and/or have conception problems!!! so it was his advice but the problem is i am not ent_tled to free medication unless i have a problem otherwise i need to go private!but nevertheless he is monitoring me so is that more acceptable now???why such prejeduce? twins4us keeps posting the same statement of one speicialist who has 'an' opinion on it based on tests with 'rats'! nowhere will you find real human medical evidence that fertilty drugs have caused harm in the nursing child!!!!and there are many women who are nursing and still taking medication! alot of fertilty clinics here are putting people on fertilty medication while nursing but it is done only if nursing is limited and fertiltiy has retruned somewhat i.e aunt flo! my son's nursing is minimal and hardly ever in the day! i have known and know many people close to home doing the exact same thing i do and while some of us do it of our won back others have clomid as well as provera prescribed to them! please see: mothering.com/discussions/archive/index.php/t-312780.html If you're eager to become pregnant first steps may include charting some cycles or reducing b___stfeeding to evaluate your fertility status. If you are not ready to try to conceive, though, you may do well to take precautions since fertility reversals do occur. Although there is no direct research, there is no obvious reason to believe that fertility treatments would harm the b___st milk. To find out the latest on how a particular drug affects b___stfeeding, turn to Thomas Hale, MD's Medications and Mothers' Milk. Clinical observations suggest that Clomid (Clomiphene) is compatible with b___stfeeding.2 And there is no reason to expect that b___stfeeding would affect your fertility treatment because the drugs will control your cycle courtesy of nursingtwo.kellymom.com/resources/ttc-while-bf.html stop laying into me like immature school girl folk and learn to respect others and the fact that people have different ways of doing things compared to you! good bye and good day!!!!

I hate to do this but I think it is wrong for women to try to have a baby just to have a certain s_x. Everytime I got pregnant I didnt care what I was having as long as the baby was healthy and I admit I liked the thought of my 2nd being a girl but nope I had another boy. With my 3rd pregnancy I could give a flying fu** what I was having and when I discovered I was pregnant I thought for sure another boy but I was given a girl. I am pregnant with #4, another boy, and I would have liked to have another girl to have 2-2 but who cares the baby is healthy. i think people who are willing to spend thousands of dollars or risk there health to have a certain s_x of baby should have there head examined. be happy that you can have a baby and that baby is healthy, if you want a certain s_x and would be unhappy if you didnt get it than KEEP YOUR LEGS CLOSED!!!!

yas2000 - April 28

dwonbutnotout....you better not visit the gender selection forums then and shun books such as the shettles method and choosing your babies s_x literatures!!!!!!my view is you can try whatever means is available and spend hundred thousands of dollars to get whatever you dream and want but, if god has planned it to be something other that you desire so it will be no matter what you do....ultimately yes health comes first.....and prayers are devoted to that predominantly!to want and yearn a certain gender is not a crime if god has blessed for you the opposite only. just like wanting a child and using ivf and all other means available and in reach when god has provided health and other blessings for you yet again you yearn to conceive! when maybe you should think of adobting? still people still do whatever it takes to have a child against nature!i love my boys and i think god has blessed me with more than i deserve...if i end up with another boy i will be truly blessed no matter what and his health is my ultimate concern! but if god blesses me with a girl whih=ch i do yearn to have then i think it will be not only beneficial to me but to my boys as well...having another female gender in the house is going to be a positive influence on my boys... also, please lay of the swearing and heavy duty language here...there is no need for it and noone has mentioned they are unhappy here! we are truly blessed and are too happy of what we have! by the way yuou can see my gorgous boys here. just add h t t p : // before it without the gaps) 151.photobucket.com/albums/s141/yas1974/Picture018.jpg
