Hello, I have so many questions as this is my first pregnancy, and waiting for my next Dr.'s visit, is getting to me. I have been lurking around these boards trying to see if anyone has a similiar question to mine, but I didn't see it. So here I go, the Dr.'s office estimates me at 10 weeks although I know the conception date and that would put me at 8 weeks. (Still haven't figured that one out, except that they go by the date of your LMP). A little background, I had mild cramping and dark discharge blood 1 1/2 weeks ago (One time it was bright red, not a whole lot, but enought to freak me out) and went in for a sonogram. At this time I was measuring 6 weeks (by my conception date) and the Dr. measured me at 8 weeks by the sonogram.
They found on the sonogram a yolk sac that wasn't there before. The nurse doing the sonogram said "that is a poor imitation of a sac if it is one". At this point I am thinking, hey that's my yolk sac your talking about! Then the Dr. came in and viewed the sonogram, and yes it was a sac that just appeared and our baby is okay. He continued to explain that the bleeding wasn't near the placenta, looks to be in my cervix. Now at this point I am elated that my baby is okay and I don't think to ask questions about the sac. And I sit hear now with questions just whirling around my head. Could that sac be part of another baby? Fraternal twins do run thru our family, both mom and dad side. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I feel so stupid that I didn't ask questions as my mom, sister and others were like what does the other sac mean, and I have to sit there and say... I don't know, I didn't ask. Thanks for taking the time to read. It was pretty long winded.

Thank you annala for answering my question above. It was comforting to know that someone took the time to answer my question. It turns out that what I had was a hematoma. I don't know how my husband and I left the Dr.'s office thinking it was an extra sac, except that was we believe we both heard that. But I guess with all scares of thinking something was wrong and the joy of find out everything was okay our hearing was selective. But everything is okay at the Dr.'s yesterday and we are looking forward to our new baby arrival in June. Take care everyone and best wishes with all your pregnancies.
