Babies In Vertex Position

Hi, I am 30 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins and had an ultrasound today. We were hoping the babies or atleast one would be head down but it turns out they are still both lying sideways. Does anyone know the chances of them turning this late in the game? They already looked so cramped in there, I don't know how it would be possible. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never had to have a c-section or epidural in the past. So I am feeling kind of nervous. Anyone else ever been in this kind of situation?

mama4 - I know this may sound sill but have you thought about acupuncture. I have heard that this can help with turning the babies naturally. Good Luck and keep us posted!

Only 1 of mine remained transverse & I ended up with a c-section. I healed rather fast. Good luck!

Im not having twins, however I do have a baby that is transverse. I am 38 weeks.. the baby is measuring 40 weeks,(they are guessing she is around the 9 to 9.5lbs mark) and she still has lots of room to move. I dont know how different it is with twins. I do go to fetal a__sessment every week and there were two women there, that had the same story as you... both of them had transverse babies early on.. and at about 34 weeks the babies had turned head down. I hope that gives you a little bit of hope. Good luck! ~Kristin~

Interesting that I just read your post now, I have just come back from the doc and I am 29 weeks with twins. Both babies are transverse, and the doctor said that they will definately still move around. You seem just ahead of me, so I think there is a good chance that they will still move. I have also never had a c-section, but so long as they come out healthy and safe, that is the main thing. Good luck!

emunah - Congratulations on your babies you must be so happy. Did you conceive them naturally or were you on Clomid or other medication. I would love to have twins but would only want to try the herbal way to increase the chances. Thanks Mel

Hi Zerafa05. I conceived them naturally - after 5 singleton pregnancies! No clomid, no drugs, no family history, nothing! What a surprise! From reading these forum's it amazes me how many people take clomid to have twins, there is only a 10-20% chance that clomid will actually increase your chances of multiples. I say, let nature take it;s course. good luck!

Mama4 - I'm sorry to say that I don't think there's much chance of them moving at this stage in the game. It gets pretty cramped in there with more than 1 baby. After 25 weeks mine made little shifts, but nothing as drastic as flipping over completely. Even if your babies were both head-down it would be no guarantee that you could have a v____al birth. Mine were head-down for my entire pregnancy and then when I went into labor both babies tried to move down at the same time so I was not able to dialate past 6cm. I ended up with a c-section after 18 hours of labor. I healed up pretty quickly and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Is your doc even really giving you a chioce with the epidural? Mine basically told me I had to have one in place in case they had to do a c-section in a hurry. If not it can take too long to get one and you can end up with general ansthesia.

I had one that finally turned vertex at 35 weeks (baby A) and then the one that was vertext (baby B) went to breech at 38 weeks. I have absolutely NO IDEA how she was able to turn at that point in the game, but they can right up until delivery.
