Beta test tests your HCG levels (the pregnancy hormone)

but, is that different than a progesterone test?

Well one test is testing what your progesteron is and one test is testing what your beta levels are. They are both blood test, but they are looking for different things

How many weeks are you? Look on the first page of this thread. I think that you have a good chance of having twins.

Mommy in WI - Your numbers sounds real good and I have to agree with SoReady they do look like twins number. When do you get to have a u/s? How are you feeling? Rub your belly for me. Krissy68

I am 5 weeks pregnant after 3 consecutive miscarriages and battling O issues with PCOS. This cycle, was all natural and I just got my beta results. My doctor's office sounded like they were pretty high for how far along I am. I am positive about my dates. I felt like I ovulated twice last month and twins do run in my family. I know U/S is the only way to know for sure, but until then I was just wondering if anyone with twins could tell me their betas and prog levels during 4-5 weeks pregnancy. My betas at 4w3d 670 and less than 48 hours later were 1476. My prog is 19.8. Thanks!

PCOS - You beta levels should always at the very least double in 48 hours. That is a sign of a good pregnancy. If you are sure about your O date. Then you have a good chance of having twins. Look at the beta levels that I posted on the 1st page of this thread. They will give you a good indication. Good Luck!

Hi All...
I'm new at this, but am VERY worried. On Tuesday 8/25, I found out that I was pregnant. Going by the first day of my last period, I'm supposed to be 5 weeks along - have had no bleeding, spotting, OR cramping. My doctor did some blood work, and my beta level was only at 38. Two days later (just this morning 8/27), she had me go back for a second blood work.... I'm supposed to get those results tomorrow.
I guess my question is - isn't that VERY low beta level for being 5 weeks pregnant?? Has anyone ever had or heard of anyone having a successful pregnancy with that low of a beta level? Guess I'm just looking for some kind of hope.
Thanks!!

1stTimePregnant - Welcome to the group. How are you doing? Have you gotten your second beta results back yet? To me this will tell alot I hope you have real high numbers and they could be off on how far along you are. Try and stay positive. Good Luck to you and let us know.
I will not be back online until Tuesday because on Monday my oldest daughter and 2 granddaughters are moving to West Virginia. I hope you have a nice weekend. Krissy68

Krissy68 - thanks for the reply!
The nurse called me this morning and would NOT give me an actual number for my test results. All she would tell me is that my numbers did NOT double the way they like to see. So I go back in on Monday for a consultation with my doctor and yet another blood test. I am trying to stay positive and not stress, but this doesn't sound very promising, does it? :(
Will update on Monday after my appointment.
Thanks! Have a good weekend!

1stTimePregnant - How are you doing? I hate it when the nurses hold out the information you want. How did the consulatation go. I still think it is a promising pregnancy because I am a__suming your numbers did go up. Keep doing what you are doing and try and stay positive. I am keeping you in my prayers. Hang in their. Krissy

Krissy - Unfortunately, I started bleeding and cramping very badly on Sunday. I called the doctor, but still had to wait for my consult on Monday, which proved my worst fears - I lost the baby. Thank you for your words of support and encouragement. My husband and I are just going through the motions right now, but I am positive that we will come out of this stronger than ever.
