Difference In Fetal Weights

In regards to the identical/fraternal factor, the only way to tell for sure is through DNA testing. I am also carrying 2 boys, 2 separate sacs and 2 placentas. According to the level II ultrasound technician (this did not come from my doctor), she claims that they are definately fraternal and not identical. I asked her how could she tell, and she said that she could see the positions of the placentas, that they are totally on different sides of the uterus. She said that if there was a chance they were identical, they would be much closer together. Again, this came from the sono tech, not my doctor, so I do not know if it is true or not. I guess we will find out eventually....

hey. did u ask about being identical/fraternal? at around 29 weeks i know my larger twin weighed around 3lbs i cant remember the others, but i had TTTS so he was much smaller. i had to see my doc ever 2 weeks at the latest due to TTTS, but if your dr doesnt seem worried i'd try not to be - easier said than done. let us know how those twins keep going and good luck :D

thanks for writing pinkrox. i only thought to ask if he knew if they were identical or not after he finished the ultrasound so it was to late. i'll see if they can see next time. but if my drs not worried about the difference in weights i guess i'm not either. how's everyone else?

Geeez! I don't trust those ultrasounds..I'm going to type the exact words written in my report for Dec. 12th. I went and got a copy from Medical Records. REASON FOR EXAM - Pain STUDY- US-PELVIS NON-OB 76856-TRANSVAGINAL US Clinical Indication- Thirty-four year old female with bleeding for 3 weeks. US PELVIS- Discussion- Transabdominal, followed by transv____al study was performed. The transv____al study was performed to better evaluate the endometrial strip and ovaries. The uterus measure 8.6cm long by 4.4cm x 6.0cm transverse. The endometrial stripe measures 6mm. The uterus demonstrates homogeneous echotexture. The right ovary measures 2.4cm x 1.7cm x 2.7cm and demonstrates multiple follicles. The left ovary measures 2.8cm x 1.8cm x 1.9cm and demonstrates multiple follicles. Both ovaries demonstrate flow on Doppler evaluation. There are no suspicous adnexal ma__ses or free fluid. IMPRESSION- Pelvic ultrasound is within normal limits.

When I was pregnant with Victoria, they told me she was abnormal and her growth as far as the Ultrasound was only 2 pounds, for 36 weeks. So they called me. I cried and cried. I went into labeor 2 weeks later and she was born at 8 pounds. I don't trust those darn Dr's...LOL!
