Hi, i have a fetal doppler to listen to my two babies (i lost a third so hoped for reassurance). The packaging says it should pick up fetal heartbeat from 10-12 weeks. I am 12 weeks 3 days, i had a scan yesterday and saw my precious babies bouncing around, hearts racing away but still cant locate them on doppler?!! I can hear lots of (i assume) placental wooshing and soetimes a beat (its the same rate as my on heartbeat so assume its my blood flowing to my pelvis). I wonder if since there are two i have too much background noise?? has anyone else brought/hired/tried one ??

Yes, I am 20 weeks with twins also and I just rented one and I love it! Like you said it just gives you peice of mind. At 20 weeks I still have trouble finding atleast one of them. My dr told me you really can't hear them until about 13 weeks and when I went to my appt around that time and she couldn't even find them! I had an ultrasound and of course everything was fine but still every time I go in for my appt the nurses are never able to find both, the dr always has to find one of them.

I tried and never heard a thing.... I would've loved to have heard them! Good luck with your pregnancy and your twins.

I also rented one and absolutely love it. We found one heart beat at 11 weeks and then other around 12 weeks. They were actually a lot lower in my pelvis than I expected and we had a hard time locating them for a few weeks, but tried every day. Once you kind of get idea of where they are hanging out, it is really easy and fun. We still use it almost everyday for rea__surance and we have to show the Dr.'s where they are too when we go for appts.

thanks everyone, 13 weeks and still not finding them ! i can hear a great deal of wooshing sounds and sometimes a beating that mirrors my own heartbeat....could this be placental blood flow? My uterus is at my belly b___ton (19weeks) size so maybe they just have too much room to track them down??

Hi, try drinking a lot of water before you listen, that usually helps and using a generous amount of the gel...you can always reorder the gel so don't skimp. I didn't want to use too much gel in the beginning and ended up with lots of static. Also, start lower and angle the doppler in different directions. Move it very slowly while angling. That should help. It took me a while to find the heartbeat at 11 weeks, but now at 13+ I hear pretty well. Although sometimes I pick up the baby's heartbeat almost directly next to one of my own...but it sounds different. Also, don't be nervous if heartrate changes from day to day once you find it as long as it stays in the normal range of 120-180.

Also, this may seem silly, but once I found a fetal heartbeat I actually placed an 'X' with a marker on the site so that I could find it again and let my husband hear it too because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find 'the spot' again.

i bought a doppler when i was about 10 weeks pregnant and found a strong heartbeat straightaway, which I thought was unusal. anyway the day i went for my 14 week scan i heard two heartbeats which turned out to be twins. i never had any problems locating heartbeats with my doppler.
