kelli27 - What does you OB say about your drop in HCG levels? Yes, in most cases it means that you do not have a viable pregnancy. There are a couple other very small possibilities. I'm so sorry I couldn't be more positive! I had a m/c last year and a drop in my HCG level was the biggest sign.

I found a chart that has levels, keep in mind they are based upon weeks after conception or ovulation.
1) 5-50
2) 5-50
3) 5-50
4) 10-425
5) 19-7340
6) 1080-56500
7) 7650-229,000
As you can see most of the people on here with twins have levels that fell within the ranges noted above.

At 5 weeks my hcg levels were 30,353. An ultrasound could detect no heart beat or feotal pole, and we were preparing ourselves for possible molar pregnancy. Consultant suggested we wait 10 days and redo ultrasound - at second ultrasound they found one pregnancy with strong heartbeat. Am now 10 weeks pregnant and things are looking good - next hurdle is 12 week scan to check for downs syndrome etc... as there is some research of a link between high hcg levels and d.s. (although GP has said this is not something we should worry about too much). Hope all works out with you all too - basically high hcg levels can result in a happy outcome - so don't despair.

I am 19 days post ovulation, I had 1st B-HCG on 1/25 of 113, 1/27 of 300, 1/29 of 700, and then 1/31 at 2411. I had a previous eptopic, and am worried about a molar pregnancy. Scheduled for 3rd u/s tomorrow...going crazy... no twins in our history. Any thoughts?

hey all hubby & i found out last week that were expecting another baby & couldnt be happyer we all ready have a 18month old all was good untill last night
i started bleeding a little more so just pa__sed brownish mucus i went to hospital they did test & told me to go back 2day for a ultra sound. we went there 2day & hd the ultra sound done it showed nothing so they did a internal ultra sound witch reveld twins 2 sacs this is what they wrote up for my normal doctor
Teigan pretstened to our department with pv bleeding she is 5/40weeks pregnant on exam her cervics (OS) was closed with a mucus plug there was no bleeding in the v____a. her beta-HCG LEVLES IS 36000, SHE HAD A ULTRA SOUND 2DAY WITCH SHOWED 2 SACS & MAYBE A BLOODCLOT IN UTERO. WE ARE UNSURE WHAT THIS MEANS WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO REPET HER hcg LEVLES IN 3DAYS.
I no why they have to do the hcg levles to see if they drop or rise (they didnt dectect heart beats but i am only 5weeks so it is to soon to see that anyway)but in the mean time i have been giving no answer as to if i have lost 1 or both or niether. & is it dangrouse to have a blood clot in there with the babys? what are the chance of carrying both babys till full term. if anyone has been through thi or somthing simerler it would be great to hear from you. as the not knowing part is killing us thankyou heaps

zzbubbleszz - they are repeating your HCG levels to see if they are doubling normally which indicates a pregnancy is advancing. The blood clot can be nothing if it resolves itself and could be the reason you saw small amts of blood. When a blod clot persists it may cause problems for the baby. So just keep following up with your doctors and good luck.

Oh, and I know someone who did carry a baby to full-term after an early blood clot gave her a scare. Don't know if you can find out this early if one or both babies is "lost". Just need to follow up with another ultrasound later to see the hearbeats and find out if both are there and strong.

HCG level of 5600. Heard this can mean multiple births. Has anyone experienced these levels and resulted in multiple birth. I have a scan on friday?

I was 22 yrs old when I had my first daughter. At age 25 I had my second daughter but 6 weeks later I noticed I had missed my period so I took a pregnancy test.
It came back positive. I could not believe it because I was being care full, “so I thought”.
I went to see my doctor she then tested me and said I was pregnant. According to the ultrasound I was about 8 weeks.
I then was told to get an ultrasound in two more weeks which would have made me 10 weeks. On this day they tell me the baby is dead and they need to do a DNC.
I get a DNC the following day; she sends me home and tells me to return in 4 weeks. During this time I just felt something was wrong. When I returned I told her I had been having a discharge, she said it was just a yeast infection and wanted to send me on my way. But something told me to ask for another pregnancy test. My doctor said no but when the nurse came in I asked her for one. She did give me one and the test was still positive. My HCG level was too high...
We all could not understand, my doctor was so scared and shocked. They did another ultrasound and said there was grape like things in side of my uterus. This all happened so fast. Every one had a scared face no one knew what was going on.
I then over hear a two doctors saying that there was never a baby and it was a pocket of blood. They also say that this type DNC should have been done under a ultrasound.
I was so scared and confused asking my self “so was this there fault??” I wanted a 2nd opinion but there was no time. They rushed me to get a second DNC. Keep in mind these are top notch doctors from the Medical Center in Houston TX.
I then was told that I have caner, that if any cell was left behind during the DNC it turns to cancer. Then they said it was a rare cancer it only happens in 1 of every 8000 women.
My husband and I were so confused its like no one knew. Within these weeks the cancer had traveled from my uterus to my lungs.
I began chemo therapy to lower my HCG level which causes me to show a positive pregnancy test and four months I was finally cancer free. But I might never know what really happened….
I hope no one will ever have to go through what I did.

I don't know if I am havingone or two yet.
My first scan isn't till Jan 12th.
My hcg levels were;
11dpo ~ 32
14dpo ~ 194
16dpo ~ 606
23dpo ~ 13986
I have a strong maternal history of twins. My grandmother, Aunt and myself. Although one vanished by my 9wk scan. This is also my 9th pg which I'm tod can also increase your odds. No idea how that woud affect your odds....

I just got my hcg levels checked yesterday, I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant & my levels were 1422. Just wondering if this is high or not, as my twin sister is also pregnant ( she is 14 wks now) & when she was about 4.5 weeks her hcg levels were only 84.

Ok, here is my question. I was in Iraq when I found out I was pregnant. I was having some pain and on my way out (leaving Iraq) they had to take me to the Baghdad army hospital and they ran blood tests and did an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that the baby was fine and that I was 7 weeks and 4 days along. But my HCG levels were 300,000 and my doc here in the states says that that is pretty high. Does this mean that I could be pregnant with twins??
