No. Is your doctor actually willing to put you to sleep? The same drugs that make you sleep will cross over the placentas and affect your little ones. The recovery will be more difficult and you won't be able to see your babies as soon as their born. Also, check with your hospital. My hospital told me that if I had to be put to sleep for emergency purposes my husband wouldn't be allowed in the delivery room. All around, not a good plan. I know it's scary to think about someone cutting you open while you're awake! But it's really better for the babies and you to stay awake.

The thought of surgery scared the c___p out of me, so I know where you are coming from. Once I was in that situation though, there was so much going on that I didn't even know they had started with the c-section until I asked when it they would start and they informed me that they almost had baby A out. The babies were out within 1 minute of each other and the healing part wasn't too bad. The worst part of the whole thing was they don't let you have any solid food until you pa__s gas. I had never been so happy and proud when that happened!

I understand how scarey it is to be awake and in surgery, I was terrified I actually paniced on the table started hyperventilating, but the medicine man was right there and the whole thing only lasted about 10 minutes the babies were out and the morphine was given to me and I was in la la land. You really just need to stay calm...I know that sounds impossible but that's why I paniced because I was too aware of what was going on, hopefully your man will be there to keep your mind on the prize and not on the situation. Healing wasn't too terrible, you'll definately need a good support system (man, grandma...anything) at the begining just changing a diaper is a challenge when you're trying to heal yourself. Takes a week and believe it or not you'll be right as rain! I would have never thought.
