There are a few things I have heard to increase your chances of twins, some you can control and others you can't. Yams or Sweet potatoes have been linked to hyperovulation though I don't have any percentages for you, also older women (over 35) or women who have a few children seem to have a higher chance of having twins. Also if twins run in your side of the family (Fraternal) then you have a slightly higher chance as well. The majority of twins born now are due to fertility drugs but I don't recommend that avenue unless you really need it. A lot of the clomid that you buy on the internet without a prescription is fake or dangerous, more fakes are getting through all of the time. Also there are some risks to taking it without a doctor's supervision. Google how to increase fertility naturally and you will get a list of herbs and minerals that are supposed to help regulate and increase ovulation. I wish you the best of luck.

Hello just_me, my husband and I would also love to have twins and I have been researching the natural ways to increase your odds. I spoke to a herbalist and she recommended the following....red raspberry leaf and chaste tree berry are most used (by the lady) along with green tea, nettle leaf, ladies mantle and evening primrose...... I would also recommend seeing a chinese herbalist. One of my friends visited a chinese herbalist and ended up pregnant with twins (boy/girl). Increase your dairy intake as well as something given to cows which ends up in our dairy is supposed to increase hyperovulation. Good Luck and please share any other tips you may have heard of. Good Luck Melanie

have you had children b4....personally hats off to anyone who has had more than one at once.....just having one is tuff work. i recommend twins for ppl who have constant help at home, i would have them only if i had that help. babies are very demanding and need all your attention, plus once you go multiple ive heard the bfing rates drop. i have a frternal twin father so its in the family for me, but common sence and me 3 month old shows me to hope for only onenxrt time.

dee23 - I have not yet had any children and I understand that one child is hard work but people manage with 1, 2, 3 and more and no matter what I feel I could manage it. Of course my main priority is to have healthy children no matter whether it's 1 or more but I would love to have twins and I am only trying to increase my odd by using herbs and changing my diet. I am very health conscious and would not risk the health of my child/ren by taking unrequired medication but I will do everything I can to increase my chances of a multiple pregnancy. Thanks anyway baby dust to you all!

I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. No offence to anyone intended. My SIL has twins (Clomid) one of which has CP. My neighbour has twins, one of which has club feet an some intestinal problems. My friend is due in Jan. with identical twin girls, and is a total basket case every day b/c of the risks of having twins (twin-twin transfer is the biggie). Having twins is a blessing, do not get me wrong, but there are greater risks too. Just some food for thought.

It drives me a little bit nuts when I see stuff like this. Twins are much riskier than most people realize. Do you purposely want to set up a situation where your child is much likelier to die after 20 weeks, be born preterm, or have lifelong disabilities? Check out this woman's list of twin stats - it might make you think "twice" about trying for twins!

Wandamom2twins - There are significant risks in every pregnancy. Yes higher risks for twins, we are aware of the risks a__sociated with pregnancy and it's not like we are trying to take unprescripted medication to do so we are simply discussing things that could increase the chances naturally. This is a positive thread at the moment please keep it that way. There is no harm discussing options. Baby dust to all!

For the record...I am taking Clomid with OUT a prescription, and I got it off line. I did tell my doc that I had taken it this cycle, and he checked me for cysts today CD21 I have no cysts, and they did a CD21 progestrone test today. So please don't judge anyone until you know their situation.

Tenk - Just wanted to ask a couple of questions - no judgement intended :-) - What was your doctors reaction when you told him you were taking Clomid? Was he happy to help?? Had you previously asked him for the prescription? Thanks Melanie

I hope that everyone who is so forward with the fact that twins are so risky realise that people here who are actually pregnant with twins already have plenty to think about without frightening them even more than what is necessary. Every pregnancy has it's risks some more than others. Please think of others and the stress they may be under already without making them panic even more. Stress can be dangerous to a pregnancy. Try and support people rather than ha__stle them. Not trying to offend anyone but if I was pregnant with twins this would be stressing me out when it's not necessary. Please think of others. Baby dust to you all!
