While I think the odds of winning the lotto are higher, it is actually possible to concieve a second child while already pregnant. Look in the medical journals at PubMed.gov. Also, I went to school with fraternal twins concieved that way.

No you cannot. Despite what others have said it is bull. Once a woman's egg is fertilized by a man's sperm it releases special hormones into a womans system similar to birth control only the natural hormones estrogen and progestrone that stop a woman's ovulation *egg release* cycle. It is impossible to get pregnant while already pregnant. If anyone says otherwise it is a hoax. So your answer is NO NO NO and NO!

What you are referring to is a uterus that has a muscle lining dividing it. There is one v____a and one cervix. No you cannot have two v____as and two cervicies. There is one v____al cavity and one cervix leading to a biphasic (two sided) uterus. And when you get pregnant either side it implants on the suit is followed the same for any other pregnancy in a woman with a non-biphasic utereus. I have been in medicine for years and I have about 10 ob/gyn people that all have been in practice for over 15 years each person and they have never seen or heard of this bull. Get a book on anatomy and physiology and then get a book specializing on the pathophysiology of uterine abnormalities and conditions of that area then come talk to us.

SUPERFOETATION!!!!! Though rare it IS POSSIBLE and acknowledged in the medical field. Look it up.

Interesting..."(From Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia): Superfetation (also spelt superfoetation, based on a false etymology — see fetus) is the formation of a fetus while another fetus is already present in the uterus. When there are two separate instances of fertilisation during the same cycle, rather than different cycles, it is known as superfecundation. It is claimed to be common in some species of animals, but is extremely rare in humans. It can only occur where there are two uteri, or where the menstrual cycle continues through pregnancy. Animals which have been claimed to be subject to superfetation include rodents (mice & rats) farm animals (horses & sheep), marsupials and primates (monkeys and humans). Reports of superfetation occurring long after the first impregnation have often been treated with suspicion and some have been clearly discredited. Other explanations have been given (and demonstrated) for different levels of development between twins. Artificially induced superfetation has, however, been demonstrated although only up to a short period after insemination. Superfetation has also been clearly demonstrated in poeciliidae fish [1]. Flavia d'Angelo, an Italian woman claiming to have become pregnant with triplets three months after initially getting pregnant, caused global media interest in 2001 (BBC News). However, it was later revealed to be a hoax (BBC News).

I'm shocked at how many "medical people" didn't look this up before telling us it's impossible. Wow you must be embara__sed!!!!

The original poster asked if it was possible to get pregnant while 3 months pregnant. According to your definition it is very unlikely. Your definition says it is rare and only possible in a small window of time. So I doubt the "medical people" feel especially foolish right now.

Kim L - March 15

Well considering the "medical people" laughed at anyone would even ask the question, BEFORE actually researching it, and although rare it IS in fact possible, I would say they have good reason to feel foolish. By the way it is not "my" definition - that is the definition from an encyclopedia.

yetanothertripletmom - March 15

It's possible only up to a short time after insemination and only artificially. I would hardly say your post is a "smoking gun."

Kim L - March 15

Hmmm...I don't see anything in there that says it's only possible artificially. Not sure where you're reading that. The point I am making is, it's possible. So before people a person laughs at others and ridicules with sarcasm, it's best to know what one is talking about first.

There you go - "Reports of superfetation occurring long after the first impregnation have often been treated with suspicion and some have been clearly discredited. Other explanations have been given (and demonstrated) for different levels of development between twins. Artificially induced superfetation has, however, been demonstrated although only up to a short period after insemination."

Yes I see that part that specifically refers to it happening artificially. It also says before that, "It can only occur where there are two uteri, or where the menstrual cycle continues through pregnancy..." I don't have an issue with the case you are making that there has been no evidence that it can occur 3 months into a pregnancy. My point, that you seem to keep missing, is IT'S POSSIBLE. That's all I was saying, right from the beginning.

Yes, this thread went from 3 months pregnant with the first post to some very nasty remarks that it was an impossibility to get pregnant at all when already pregnant and how ignorant to believe otherwise. A lot of women on here got very opinionated about anyone who thought it was possible and in my eyes, they look the fool. That is why I brought up SUPERFOETATION in my previous threads. Nothing when it comes to the human body is impossible. It may be improbable, but never impossible. There is a name for it this, it shows it is possible and that is the name of that tune. Heck, it is even in the Dictionary. Main Entry: su·per·fe·ta·tion Variant: or chiefly British su·per·foe·ta·tion /"sü-p&r-fE-'tA-sh&n/ Function: noun : successive fertilization of two or more ova of different ovulations resulting in the presence of embryos of unlike ages in the same uterus

onetwothree - yes I read through your posts and actually took the time to look it up. Thanks for sharing that! I would have thought it TOTALLY impossible - what an interesting thing to learn about. I just get so upset when people are criticized for asking a question on an open forum - if it bothers others so much, don't respond. I, for one, am glad to have learned something new!

i know somebody who was due for a baby, the doctor told her to go home and have s_x as it could bring on the baby, so she did, she ended up having the baby but her after birth bleeding only lasted for 2 days then stopped, it turned out she had gotten pregnant, she is now 5 months pregnant with a 5 month old at home. I dont understand it myself, maybe she's got 2 utarus's or something LOL

Just sounds to me that your friend didn't wait for the 6 week mark. I have heard of siblings being 9 months apart.
