I was wondering if there were anyone out there that took clomid U/P and have twins or triplets that would like to share their experiences with it? Starting from day one.
I have taken clomid U/P and am pregnant with triplets and i am very happy about the babies , but a little nervous and was hoping that others like me could talk me through thier stories . I am not going to say that you shouldnt take it U/P , but I would have to say as a learning experience that it would be much more wise to go through a doc or at the very least let one know that you are taking it as you could really hurt yourself if you arent being monitered. I have learned that the hard way as well. Cysts can be VERY painful. They can also make it so you cant have more babies if left unatended and are bad enough to need medical attention. Not trying to tell you to stop or to not stop just telling you where I am and what I know is all. If anyone else can share some insights on thier experiences it would be appreciated.
Thank you

I can't help you, I took clomid prescribed by my doctor so my experience is probably different than yours.

Why are you nervous, weren't you aware that you could have triplets if you took clomid? Did you not understand what you were taking?

Children are very expensive, especially when you get three at once. I hope you have really good insurance as they will probably be in the NICU for a little while unless you are one of the lucky few who can carry them to 35 weeks.

Hey, ladies.. she is already pregnant.. what is the point in going over her risks and mistakes at this point, when she can't do anything about it anymore? It looks, from her Q, that she knows she did something wrong and definately doesn't recommend it to others... Now all she is asking for is for someone who has had 3 to offer any advice... Which, if we are all in agreement that at this point the most important thing is healthy babies, is something that women who have been there should be more then willing to offer.

"The more babies a woman carries at once, the greater her risk of complications."
"Close to 60 percent of twins, over 90 percent of triplets and
virtually all quadruplets and higher multiples are born preterm. The
length of gestation decreases with each additional baby. On average,
most singleton pregnancies last 39 weeks; for twins, 36 weeks; for
triplets, 32 weeks; for quadruplets, 30 weeks; and for quintuplets, 29
weeks."
"Most preterm multiples weigh less than 5 1/2 pounds (2,500 grams),
which is considered low birthweight. Low-birthweight babies,
especially those born before 32 weeks of gestation and/or weighing
less than 31/3 pounds (1,500 grams), are at increased risk of health
complications in the newborn period as well as lasting disabilities,
such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy and vision and hearing
loss."
"Women who are pregnant with multiples also face an increased risk of
pregnancy-related forms of high blood pressure (preeclampsia) and
diabetes. ** More than half of triplet pregnancies are complicated by
preeclampsia. ** With proper treatment, these disorders usually do
not pose a major risk to mother or baby."
"..when a woman is carrying three or more babies, a cesarean delivery
is usually recommended because it is safer for the babies."

See, that is just exactly what I don't understand.. are you trying to stress her out so she miscarries or something? That huge list of risks, although real and possible, are really not helping now that she is already pregnant.. so what was the point of posting them? I too am against illegal drug use, but in the end my concern is for the babies ( and the mothers) so all you are doing is making her feel bad when she is already backed in a corner. What is the purpose?

To Soon-to-be-triplets, As frightening as the other post it unfortunately it is true. Hasn't your doctor discussed this with you? This was brought to my attention during the first visit so I would know what lay ahead for me. It's better to be aware of all the risks so you won't be too surprised later if some of it does happen to you. But that doesn't mean that it will. You can have try to have a healthy pregnancy if you listen to your doctor. How many weeks are you?

Not for nothing, but you should have been more nervous taking unprescribed clomid than you are now. I have triplets, but there is nothing to share w/you because I was monitored by my OB from day one. I hope that you have an uneventful pregnancy and that your children are born healthy.
