Did you get to see the embryos before they transferred them?

MsMonet - I don't think you can really prevent GD. Once you have it you can control it with diet and medication if needed but it only goes away after you deliver. I am predisposed to diabetes as it's in my family and it's also more common with fraternal twins because there are 2 placentas producing hormones. I know am more likely to get type II diabetes now that I've had GD so I try to watch what I eat.

Freebird-Thanks. Its funny because I've tried dieting to loose the 15 - 20lbs. Now that I am taking vit and just watching my diet by having balanced meals. The weight is coming off. I noticed my pants today.... I will take heed a stick to a good diet. Thank you.

Hi there! I'm not sure that the fact I had been pregnant before gave me better odds, but they knew I could get pregnant :D And yes, they actually give you a picture of the embryos before your transfer...I put it in a frame and set it on my desk!

That's cool that they gave you a picture!! I just got my paperwork from them last night, it's a lot of stuff to read. At least I don't have to take birth control with this study. Why did they have you take birth control? I know it's required sometimes I just don't know why. I made a mistake too I thought my other option was Dr. Berger but it's actually Dr. Bayer. How are you feeling?

The birth control first protocol is actually the most common protocol out there...it's to really calm the ovaries down so you can start stimming with a blank slate. But different REs have different protocols--some like a full cycle on BCPs (21 days and then period) and then others do 14 days. There are some women who don't have to do the BCPs because if they do they won't respond as well. I think most docs think it just provides a good baseline I guess :D Tonight I'm feeling kind of eh--I teach a seminar on Wednesday evenings for 2 hours and last week I had a sore throat Thurs morning and same thing this morning. No fever or anything, no sore lymph nodes. It could be from postnasal drip too from the runny nose I seem to get every evening...other than being extremely picky as to food I'm doing OK. Hopefully morning sickness will pa__s my by, although I've been getting more queasy of late. NOooooooo!

They told me I couldn't be in the study if I needed BCP. They said it's not needed with either type of drug that I may have. I finally have my consult scheduled I'm going down to Waltham so that I can be seen sooner. My Appt is April 17th which is also my b-day. So hopefully they don't turn the birthday girl down!! I'm glad your feeling ok. When I was pg with twins even when the pregancy was going well I didn't get too sick. I just had more symptoms quicker then a lot of people I had talked to. So you may get by the m/s without much of a problem.

I hope so! I went to Waltham for just about everything I could--it's the nearest location to me. I really liked everyone there...and of course that's where I had the IVF done. How far along were you when you started to have problems with your twin pregnancy?

I started spotting at about 5 wks on and off but that was from s_x, so I was put on pelvic rest. I had a u/s at 5w 3d and it only showed 1 then I had another u/s at 8w and it showed 2 but only 1 had a heartbeat and the 1 without a heartbeat only measuring 6 w 3 d. I still had all my symptoms very very strong and the next day I just started gushing blood no cramps or anything. So I went to the ER and there wasn't a heartbeat on either one so I had to have a D&C the next day. I'm glad that you liked the people at Waltham it makes me feel better. I don't know anyone that has gone there. I know a women that went to the Fertility Center of New England and she liked them. She had a boy the 1st time and twins the 2nd time a boy and a girl. But I've heard from other people that they are a nightmare and that'll they'll do IVF on anyone. Did you do progestrone injections?

So sorry to hear about your twins--my last ultrasound was Friday and they said everything still looked fine, all had good heartbeats and were the right sizes--I was 7 weeks 6 days then, am 8 weeks 1 day today :D So I'm right around that same time now. About the injections--I didn't have to do them, thank god. I used Crinone gel, which is basically a tube you squirt up you every night. Very easy, never painful or anything. I don't know when I'm going to be off of them but I would think maybe by week 10. I didn't just like Waltham--I LOVED Waltham...they're so wonderful down there! Really, my experience couldn't have been any better.

I'm so happy you had a great experience with them!! Your pregnancy seems to be doing fine so I wouldn't be worried!! I'm considered high risk for m/c since I've had 2 and I'm MTHFR + so they told me I have about a 25-30% chance of losing another pregnancy. But since I will be very very closely monitored we hope to prevent that. Especially if I get to do IVF they start the u/s really early right? My paperwork says they'll do the first at 5-6 wks and another at 10wks. I know my Dr's office will do one at 8 wks or so for their records. I'm going to pick up a copy of all my records today to bring with me to my appt. I can't wait to see all the stuff I've had done. My chart is almost an inch thick so they couldn't fax it. Who's taking care of you now is it Boston IVF your RE or are you seeing an OB now?

I'm scoping out OBs in the Boston area though I've been "released" by the RE :D

Will you have to see a high risk OB b/c your having triplets? My Dr refers out multiples pregnancies.
