Quintuplets

I am currently 9 1/2 weeks pregnant with quintuplets. My husband and I have lost two babies within the past 2 years (both prior to 20 weeks) and are therefore quite scared, due to the high risk of such a pregnancy. I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with this type of multiple birth. Any advice and/or suggestions that we can receive would be very appreciated.

First of all CONGRATS!! I wish you all the best for a healthy pregnancy. I don't have any tips but I was wondering how you conceived Quints? IVF? Injectibles? I'm just curious because I"m undergoing fertility treatment right now. Again, Congrats! God bless.

wow... do you have really really bad pregnancy symptoms yet? quintuplets thats amazing. I am curious to know how you conceived that many also. I hope you have many many healthy babies!

wow, quints? Don't know if there's anyone on right now even with quads. Quints are really rare these days, even with fertility treatments. I'm sure with a pregnancy like that your doctor will be watching very closely.

There are several triplet moms on this forum that had trouble carrying their babies. I'm sure they would be happy to talk to you. They aren't hard to find.

I didn't have many issues carrying my trio - I was one of the "lucky" ones.

Thank you to all of those who have offered support and kind words. I actually conceived by using Follistem injections and Intra-Uterine Insemination. However, I only had 2 mature follicles, so all doctors who we have seen have no explanation as to how this happened. Technically, medical science would presume that I should have only twins. By some miracle, we've been blessed with more. I have had very intense pregnancy symptoms for about 6 weeks now...and I'm sure I'll have a long way to go. To those of you who are undergoing fertiltiy treatment, I wish you the best of luck. Take Care and Bless you all!

Keep us updated. When and how did you find out? Are the doctors predicting to sets of identical twins? What a miracle!

so out of 2 eggs, you got 5 babies? my goodness! do they think you may have also ovulated on your own or do you have identical triplets and twins in there? are any of them sharing sacs or placentas?. also, may I ask the reason of why you lost your last two at around 20 weeks (which I am very sorry for).

Hi Ladies. It's so great to be able to talk with you all. We actually had our first ultrasound at 5 weeks, which only detected four babies...all in separate sacs. Because of the risky nature of this pregnancy, I have ultrasounds every week. Anyway, it was not until I was 8 weeks pregnant that we discovered "baby E" had been hiding behind "baby D." Because I had only two follicles, the doctors are suspecting that the eggs split more than once and thus producing either two sets of identicals and one sigleton or one set of identical twins and triplets. By some miracle though, because they are all separate, they each have their own blood supply. Our last two losses were both for different reasons. Our first loss, which was two years ago today was due to a lack of normal development. Our second loss which was in September of 2005 was due to a blood clot that occurred behind my placenta, which restricted fetal growth. I am now on Lovenox, which is a blood thinner. I look forward to talking with you all soon. Thoughts and prayers to everyone.

Wow Congrats, My aunt had quads, but with the ultrasound thru out her whole pregnancy they only found 3 babies, until her actual birth when baby D was hiding in back of baby C.. I'm tring for twins, but as of right now I'm on Metformin to help me ovulate.... Again Congrats and may the Lord Bless you and your family.

Hi Moni. I'm sure your aunt was very surprised when her unexpected addition arrived! I hope your fertiltiy treatment is successful. I know that going through this time can be very stressful...but just trust and pray that you will be blessed...and you will! Sometimes it just takes longer than we would like. Take care of yourself and may you and your family be blessed as well.
