Well let's hope they do. The last one they never moved that thing to left, right, side, up, nothing! As soon as she hit right at my pelvis bone she saw baby on the screen.

Kim, The stats on the internet state that twins are missed in 1st trimester sono only 5% of the time. Vaginal u/s are very accurate...that early (6wks) you don't really have to move the transducer around as the baby(ies) are very small.

Yeah..My U/S 18 years ago confirmed I was having a Boy. And that is what I was expecting and bought for. But when I pushed a Girl came out! LOL

a 12 week fetus is TOUGH to miss....there would be 2 sacs, 2 cords, two placentas and way too many limbs, not to mention TWO heads. Sonos are done in REAL time so you can see the baby move...twins dont' shadow each other completely. I seriously doubt that TWO separate sonos missed twins/triplets.

Like you Kim I didn't have twins in my mind at ALL until the symptoms hit me- which was pretty much immediately.... My husband and I did plan to have one but if it is two we will be happy .....

Maybe you are right for the most part. And for most pregnancies. There is a thread on here pregnancy.net. A few people stated they had several U/S that missed theirs..in 2006. Which I suppose 2006 was still modern technology. I don't disagree with you at all on the statistics. I can ONLY say what's going on inside of me.

But unfortunately I have never been the normal person for anything medically.

I looked up Pantheism because I was curious. I like to learn about different religions. Anyway I have to say that it is probably the most uncomplicated religion I have ever heard of!! I am a non denominational Christian myself and I really had to take a step back because Pantheism made SOOOO much sense to me it was scary. I never try to judge anyone for their religous beliefs because in the end nomater how much any of us have faith in our own we are never going to know the absolute truth until we die. Thus my reason for having the beliefs that I do. I actually live my life much like a Pantheist however I believe in a creator and his son whom I believe died for everyones sins. And I try to live my life to the fullest as free of "sin:" as I can so in the end when I die, if it turns out that I am right and there is a hell then I wont be going. However if I am wrong and there is no god and no hell, well it doesnt really matter then does it? lol at least i lived my life to the fullest and tried to have a positive effect on those lives that I did deaply touch. :) ...............Please dont think I am judging anyone here. I respect everyone who believes in something and like I said I have no room to say who is wrong and who is not. Those are just my beliefs. :) Thanks for sharing yours I loved reading about it when I googled it.

I'm glad you enjoyed that, Laura. It's not too often I run across religious women on forums who don't belittle my beliefs and tell me how pathetic I am just because I don't believe in their god. I appreciate that. If you have a chance, you might want to look up Pascal's Wager and in particular the criticisms of it. It's right along the lines of what you said in your last post about being rewarded if christianity is the right choice and losing nothing if it's not. That wager has been around for a long time, and there are some very rational arguments against that type of thinking. Anyway, I'm not trying to down on your beliefs - just sharing what I've learned along the way in my own religious journey. Anyway, perhaps we should start another thread if we wish to continue this discussion. I find it tiring reading Kim's perpetual accusations that I must be miserable just because it makes her feel good about herself. You know, Kim - people aren't miserable just because they disagree with you. You're showing quite clearly just how miserable you actually are by trying to project such negativity on others.

I have been following this "thing" for about as long as its been going on. I knew I was pregnant with my singleton daughter before I even took the test. I had all kinds of tests and nothing showed because it was too early to phisically see. (My daughter is now a year old). I am well intuned to my body as well so I just knew. Even when people said its probably just stress etc, I knew I was. My husband is a fraternal twin. They didn't know about him until 3 hours before he was born. Don't ask how. He and his twin sister's heartbeats were in sync and all that. This was over 18 years ago. A good friend of mine is expecting. She has had at least one ultrasound, doctor thought he heard two heartbeats (not just one doctor and not just one occasion). Only one VISIBLE baby. Goes, like kim, on April 11 for her next ultrasound.

like mom2serenity I also knew I was pregnant before the test could tell me I was - and the test told me I was 5 days before my missed period, so I knew almost right after conception. and BTW - I am a twin and the doctors didnt know about my brother until we were born! (24 years ago)

twins4us - March 29

To Heather. and mom2...18 & 24 yrs ago u/s were just getting started,so it wasn't unusual for a twin to be missed if one was done. Also many ladies never had u/s back then as it wasn't standard care. There is a big difference in two separate u/s missing twins in 2007. You are comparing apples to oranges. To the person whose Dr. heard two hb...that is highly unreliable way to diagnose twins. The ubilical cord and placenta pulse, amniotic fluid conducts sounds so you can hear one baby several places in the uterus and the mother's veins that feed the uterus also gives off a pulse. All the things "sound" like a hb but w/o a visual you have NO idea what is making the sound. For the record I "knew" I was pg at 7dpo with my babies because my temps went triphasic and I started to feel symptoms. The day of conception the baby's hcg isn't impacting your system as you aren't connected(it hasn't implanted) so "feeling" pg the day of conception or before implantation is ludicrious.

Heather F - March 29

thank you twins for us for another does of your negativity.

twins4us - March 29

You are welcome Heather...it isn't negativity it IS reality. Do your research. If you don't like it then follow your own advice and ignore it. I sure wish people who have never been pg with twins would stop encouraging women who suspect when they really have NO clue what a twin pg feels like. Having twins isn't the same as wanting a twin pg.

Isn't this supposed to be a forum FOR ENCOURAGEMENT? We can all be hopeful for the women who would love to be pregnant with twins... JUST AS WE ARE ALL ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER WHEN WE ARE (WERE) TRYING TO CONCEIVE. There are many women on the Pregnancy Symptoms board that have NEVER been pregnant... therefore the don't know what it is like, or what to expect... however, they still encourage each other.
