I went for an u/s in my 7th week and we saw the little one in there and we heard the heartbeat. Then I went for a prenatal checkup in my 10th week and we heard the heatbeat and everything check out ok. BUT, I went for another prental checkup yesterday (I'm 16 weeks now), and they found two babies in there, and two distinct heartbeats. Because I've been seeing a midwife, she wasn't able to tell me everything about my situation and now I have to wait for an official u/s and an appt. with a regular doctor. Has anyone heard situations similar to this or have any words of advice?

I am kind of wondering if twins is my case as well. Because my uterus is bigger than it should be and I can feel alot of movement. I am almost 18 weeks and have a midwife as well. I had an ultrasound done at 10 weeks and they only saw one baby in there an so far (my last appt was sept 12th) we have only heard one heartbeat, I am thinking its either twins, my baby is huge for its age or i am further along than I think. do you experience any of this?

When my midwife began to feel around to find my uterus she said that it is higher than it should be, and that I'm probably further than we thought! Then we did the doppler and heard 2 heatbeats! Then she brought in the u/s machine and said there was two in there. SO, that sounds like your case too! I have had A LOT of movement too! I thought it would be too soon, but I've definitely been feeling it and so has my bf. I read that when a woman is carrying twins, movement can be felt sooner and it can be more distinct! WOW! Maybe you're having twins too!

Hey savy, I answered your other question. When my sis went in for an ultrasound, they heard 2 heartbeats and said they were twins. When she went in for a second ultrasound (she too was measuring bigger) they found another heartbeat. My brother jokingly told them to take her to xray because he didn't want to come back and they find additional babies. Lol.

WOW! That's amazing! Are triplets hereditary? Did your sister find out right away that she was having triplets (on the first u/s)? Did she feel a lot of movement early? I'm just in shock because we didn't see another one in my first u/s. Maybe they were too small to see?

Hi savy. I posted on the 2nd trimester board asking you a question, but looks like you answered it for me on here. I am wondering if I am having twins. I have heard 2 heartbeats (or just the echo from the one) on my home doppler and I have been feeling movement for over a week..I am a little over 16w, due March 29th. the same as you I think. I don't go in for my u/s until November 1st and it is driving me crazy!! My uterus is 1" below my belly b___ton and I know right now it should be at least 3" below my belly b___ton, so I know I am measuring bigger than I should be. My doc. didn't say anything at my last visit, she just felt it and said looks good...I can't stand the waiting. I'm sure I am only having one, but I just can't shake the feeling of it being twins and need someone to ease my mind!! Also, are you showing pretty good yet? There is a girl I work w/ who is 5.5 months pregnant, and I am bigger than her!!

WOW Tammy, I AM due on March 29th too! I go for an u/s on Thursday for confirmation. We heard 2 heartbeats as well. Are you seeing a regular doctor or a midwife? I don't know what I'm measuring, but my midwife did say I that my uterus is higher than it would usually be for one. I'm kinda showing, but I've only gained 5lbs so far. I've also heard that the babies could be taking it all too! I've been feeling movement for about a week, and it's been pretty often. My midwife said she's 90% sure it's twins. Do you have an email address? Me and catgiggles have been keeping in contact because she is also due on the 29th.

I have only gained about 6 or 7lbs so far and am showing a little bit. You should check out the webpage I started for march mommies. it is http://www.freewebs.com/tammy276/ take out any - that may have appeared in the web address. Check it out and let me know if you want to join up. My e-mail is litemans@sbcglobal.net. I am really going to freak out if I go in for my u/s and find out that it is twins. It just sucks because when I go in for my visits, the nurse just puts the doppler in one spot for like 3 seconds and thats it, so even if there were 2 in there, she doesn't give it a chance to hear 2 heartbeats. I hope I am just freaking out about nothing, but even I can't believe that I am feeling movement already and have been for over a week.. Guess I will find out on November 1!!

The webpage looks awesome! Everyone looks great! I would love to send you some pictures. So far, I haven't taken any bare belly shots, because I haven't been showing much, except for the pa__sed week. I'll take some and send them to you. BTW, have you asked your nurse to move the doppler around to see if there is 2 heartbeats. I wasn't even expecting it, so my midwife did it on her own. That would be crazy if we were both having twins and both due on the same date! AWESOME!!!

Their were no history of triplets in either side of the family. The doc told us that when it comes to identicals, it can happen to anybody. I think at her 10 week ultrasound they thought twins, and they did another ultrasound the following week and saw the 3rd. As far as movement early on, she just felt the flutters. I wish you best of luck!!
