OMG MICHELLE!!!!!! congrats with Alex..I can't believe she's here...wow...can't wait to hear more....

Thank you!........ Hi girls… Alex is asleep at the moment so I thought I’d write in and say hello. Even though labor for me wasn’t all that bad – it still was a challenge to say the least! Sunday night (11/12/06) around 11;30pm I had to get up to go pee, like any other night…. Nothing different to begin with at first. When I went to get out of bed it felt like I had a gush in my underwear… but just my underwear and not more than that. I went to the bathroom and my underwear was wet – but it was not urine so I was confused. Then I went pee and when I wiped it had a streak of red blood… That is when I yelled for DH and he said I probably lost my plug. Well 30 minutes later I started getting what seemed like mild period cramps, so I am wondering if the initial water was my water breaking --- but was sealed off by the baby’s head so there wasn’t a tidal wave. Anyhow, the cramps got harder and more frequent over the course of about 5 or 6 hours. I had totally lost track of time until I got to the hospital, to be honest. Well, the contractions must have been back labor because I was unable to lay on my back or side while I was at home… so I was on the floor of my bedroom on my hands and knees; that position relieved the pain big time. And during that time --- I threw up about 4 or 5 times and needed to go the bathroom like every 30 minutes… BM and Pee; I was told afterwards that my body was cleansing itself for the arrival. Anyway, I guess DH was keeping track of my contractions because I never really heard from him until I noticed he was getting dressed and putting some clothes together in my hospital suitcase… then he said we needed to go to the hospital or at least that is what I remember --- you kinda zone a lot. DH told me it was semi-snowing on the way to the hospital I… I have no idea since I was in the back seat on my hands and knees --- breathing my way through the contractions. Once we got to the hospital I was admitted right away, then examined. I think they initially figured since I was 36 weeks that it was false labor. Then they examined me and that is when they said I was 8 cm. An hour later I was 10 and ready to push…. 45 minutes after that Alex was born. I ended up staying in the hospital all day Monday, Tuesday and was released Wednesday morning because I had a fever of 100.7 for 2 days. So the doc put me on IV antibiotics and I am now on oral antibiotics for the next week. The diagnosis is that I was getting sick and that is what brought on early labor…. But the doc’s aren’t a 100% sure. Today my b___st’s hurt like anything and Alex looks like she might have developed a mild case of yellow jaundice. We have an appointment with the pediatrician tomorrow so I will verify with her. I guess yellow jaundice is common after a few days in preemies. Will keep you updated. Need to run some errands. TTFN.

just a quick update, I went to the dr's yesterday, I'm 1 centimeter dilated, and she measures at approx 5 pounds 13 oz...and then this morning I lost my mucus plug...so I guess the count down begins :-))

Kristine - November 18

That's great Cookie!! So funny how you and Michelle are going in close together. Keep posting until you can!! :-)

Kristine - November 18

WE'RE HAVING A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cookie - November 19

oh that's great kristine!!!! how did you find out? funny all three of us ended up with girls...did you have another us?

Kristine - November 19

I know! The three amigos. lol------------------------We ended up going to one of those places where they tell you the gender and you get 10 photos. My OB gave no indication I'd be having a u/s anytime soon and DH really wanted to know. When's your next appt.?

NVgirl - November 21

KRISTINE: So your DH gave into temptation and wanted to know? That is so cool that you are having a girl! Congratulations!!! ••••• COOKIE: The night that I lost my plug I gave birth. Let us know how you are doing!!! ••••• Welp for me ---- Alex was placed in the hospital on Friday afternoon because she has yellow jaundice. She was in an incubator under lights with an IV. It was heart wrenching... I cried. Her Bilirubin # was 26 when it should be around 9. They said this happens when babies are born before 37 weeks. The pediatrician let her come home on Saturday night around 5pm when her number dropped to 11... then on Sunday DH & I had taken her to the ER lab to get another blood draw per her doc and it was back up to 15... I was so upset that it went up, but glad she was still home. Then today she had another blood draw at the Hospital Lab and since DH and I were out of cell phone range when the results came back, the doc left a msg saying Alex's numbers are better. So I will call on Tuesday morning to see what the actual numbers are. But the msg seems good. My 1st week was a hard one, but I think it is improving. Lost of family are coming in for Thanksgiving so for the rest of the week I will be very busy --- but my Mom will be staying with DH & I through next week to help out with Alex... so that will be nice. And I was kinda happy that Alex is here so everyone can see her and not have to make the trip next month in the snow. Anwhow, have a great rest of your week and have a great thanksgiving!

Kristine - November 21

Oh the poor little girl. That must have been hard for you and DH. The good news is she's home now and you can have a great holiday. ---------COOKIE, will you have a Thanksgiving surprise???

Cookie - November 21

yeah our trial is over...it ended quickly, unfortunatly we didn't win, but it was a hard case to prove...and with Thanksgiving right around the corner i'm sure the Jury's minds were not on the case...but the actual trial (an hour away) was wearing me down...now its basically office work for me...although I have a few small hearings and a mediation still schedualed, but they are things I can pawn off on others...Michelle, sorry to hear about Alex, that has got to be so hard to watch your little baby going through...I hope the family festivities don't overwhelm you on top of new mommyhood...Kristine, I don't think she's going to be coming anytime soon...I spoke with my dr's office this morning and he didn't seem to concerned...now that i'm free tomorrow i'm going to try and get in and see him for my 36 week appt...I'll be 37 weeks on thursday...are you tossing around any names yet? are you excited that your having a little girl? their clothes are so much fun...i'm really getting excited to see our daughter...

Kristine - November 22

I was excited either way and of course hope for good health. It is nice knowing because I can look at girly things. We have a name but it is a surprise because we are honoring someone in my family.---------------------- HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cookie - November 22

awe how sweet...smart not to tell people her name...our first choice (which we really liked and was after our grandmothers was squashed flat)...not so much fun...people are less likely to say anything mean wants she's here and its her name already...I hope you all have a super Thanksgiving...just imagine next year our daughters will be there (well for Michelle, little Alex will be the highlight this year for sure !!!!)

NVgirl - November 24

Hi ya girls... I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Alex was center of attention. It was so cute. She is doing better, which makes me feel better. She has her 2-week wellness check-up on December 1st - we'll see if she has gained any weight and so forth. My brother keeps calling her Lexi -- after Lex Luther in Superman. He just cannot conform and call her Alex... I don't know if it bothers DH or not. ••••• COOKIE: Glad you don't have any more trials to worry about and can just relax at work for the next few weeks. ••••• KRISTINE: That is cool that you are naming her after a family member. I originally wanted Alex's middle name Ann since DH's mom and my mother's middle names are Ann. I thought it would be neat to give the two of them recognition by giving Alex their middle name --- but DH squashed the idea... and he picked Samantha instead. Anyhow, hope you two had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Talk to you soon.

Kristine - November 27

Hi ladies, Hope you had a great holiday! --------------I developed a cough on turkey day that is now (sorry TMI) accompanied by phlegm. Doc said to push fluids and get rest. She said I can take Robitussin DM but I won't take it unless I can't sleep. My 24 week appt. is next Monday so if I fell worse, I'll let them know. COOKIE, when's your next appt.?

Cookie - November 27

Hi girls, I have my next appt, this afternoon...i'm so hoping the dr will give me some good news that i'm more dilated...i've been having pains on and off for the past few days, but i'm not sure if its just my daughter pressing on various organs or if they are actual contractions...so we'll see...at least I used these past few days to really get everything ready (I was bad I didn't do any of my office work I had taken home)...we have all of Mackenzie's stuff now, and our house is decorated including our tree so I don't have to stress over that...I got all my thank you cards out finally for my baby showers, and did 80% of my christmas shopping (online...didn't want to deal with the crowds)...now just biding my time...would love to go this week if possible..but knowing my luck this little girl is going to stay put till christmas...lol...Michele glad to hear Alex is doing better, she is such a cutie pie...I still can't believe she's already here....Kristine, hope your feeling better, lousy to get sick on top of being pregnant...

Cookie - November 28

hiya, well had my appt yesterday...I've gained 32 so far, yuck...and the dr said my cervix is still not softening...but I'm a "good" centimeter dilated...whatever that means...I was so depressed when I left...those internals hurt so bad...dh took me to cracker barrel for some chicken and dumplings to make me feel better...my dr said I could still go at any time..but I swear he was just saying that to make me feel better...I just want my daughter out...also my due date is apparantly Dec 14, not the 16th...not that it matters much...i'd love to go into labor today, tonight...whenever...I don't think I'm going to make it another few weeks...blah...on a funny note, my sil and dh were at the office when we got there for her 10 w appt...people were giving us the strangest looks when we greeted eachother with hugs and kisses....fun having the same dr....
