From what I have read, doctors generally recommend waiting 3 months after you stop taking the pill before trying to conceive. I'm guessing this allows time for the hormone levels in your body to go back to normal and for your cycles/ovulation to regulate. Since you only stopped taking the pill a month ago, you have no reason to worry. Plus, getting pregnant often takes awhile, so try not to stress!

Good luck with trying to conceive. My husband and I are trying at the moment too.
Don't be surprised if it takes awhile to fall pregnant. Some women do get pregnant easily, but even after being off the pill for a few months, it can still take a fit, healthy couple several months to conceive. Obviously, you give yourself the best chance of getting pregnant if you "try" as often as possible. It may also help to find out when you ovulate to make sure you make the most of your most fertile time. Do an internet search on fertility or ovulation or conceiving a baby and you will find a lot of information.

Please try not to worry. It is unlikely that you are pregnant yet if you have your period (though there is a very slight chance). It is totally normal for it to take quite awhile to get pregnant, but if you are concerned and would like a check-up, of course see your doctor. Many doctors encourage pre-conception appointments so you can discuss all the issues, and they can also advise you about how to understand your cycle and know when you are ovulating.
Also, you will probably want to start taking the correct vitamins. There are specific vitamins you can get if you are trying to get pregnant or are pregnant. Ask your pharmacist-you don't need a prescription. They are best taken at least 3 months before you conceive (in particular to build up folic acid levels in your system), but obviously the sooner you can start, the better. Good luck!

Oops - almost forgot. The discomfort you are talking about sounds like it could be a bad case of menstrual cramps, but you should probably see your doctor just in case. It could also be the stress of trying to get pregnant making you feel unwell. Please try not to worry!
