Job Offer

Well I am a dj at our local radio station. I love the work, and when I put in my maternity leave request, I also requested to come in once or twice a week to voice commercials. I was never given a direct yes or no to the request, and this morning my "wonderful" boss, who pawns off all her responsibilities on everyone else, has asked me if I would like to work every third sunday, I would love to keep my voice on the air, and I know this would affect my maternity benefits, but at the same time, i don't want to have a set day and time that I have to be here! I came back to work a week after ds was born last year and didn't take any time off. I really want to do commercials but not sure how I feel about giving up one day once a month to work a 4 hour shift! I know this probably sounds crazy and I should probably take her up on the offer, but I think it's because she is trying to pawn the job off so she doesn't have to work that bugs me the most! I just don't know what to do!!????? Any suggestions?

Are you in Canada? The reason I'm asking is that Employment insurance will let you make some extra money while collecting EI. If not, I would still work the one day a month. It will give you a break. My ds is almost 9 months old and I went back to work one day a week for 5.5 hours (Saturdays). when he was 5 months old. I enjoy it a lot and it gives me a little bit of a break.EI doesn't deduct anything, only if I go over $106/week. I'll be going back full time feb 15 (dreading the day)
