I came off the pill after 6 years and got pregnant straightaway! I mean 2 weeks later!!

I was on the pill for 8 years and went off in May when I got married, and got pg in Aug. I am 23 weeks now. It just depends on the person I think.

Gina, if you don’t mind me asking how old are you? And are you sure you’re not ready for a baby? Because if you’re not you DON’T want to get off the pill and throw caution to the wind. Every woman’s body is different so you don’t want to take that chance then to find out it isn’t so for you. What is your current situation in case you got pregnant? Will you and your partner be ready? I myself was on the pill for over 8 years and just got off in December, 05. The only difference is, I do want to have a baby I will be 29 next month. My boyfriend and I are not trying to conceive right now because we are using the rhythm method. If I somehow got pregnant we’ll be ready. I used to feel the same way you do about being on the pill for so long and what will happen when I do get off…so I do understand. If you really feel that you should get off and get your body ready for a baby PLEASE discuss it with your partner. Let him know your concerns. If he says ok then you can start using the Rhythm Method. This simply means you will check when your fertile days are and when you ovulate. You Do Not have unprotected s_x those days…especially the day you ovulate. It’s a little time consuming because you will have to chart everything that goes on with your body but it can work. Just be consistent with it and you follow your monthly cycle. Get a basal body thermometer that will help you to check when you ovulate. Like some other people have said it depend on the person. Like me i got pregnant while on the pill after being on it for a year. It all depends on the person.

It took me almost a year to get pregnant after the pill.

I got pregnant the month I stopped taking the pill... But I would suggest talking to your gynocologist.

Wait to stop taking the pill until you are ready. I have been on the pill for 10 years and was in the process of changing BC, I got preg 2 weeks after stopping BC. I was not planning for it was a complete surprise. I know many women who have gotten preg right after getting of the pill. If you aren't ready don't risk it. Thats my advice. Because it was a shocker for me. 3 months and still in shock.

It totally depends on the person. I stopped the pill 10 months before I wanted to get pregnant so it would be completely out of my system, and got pregnant on our first "try". My neighbour stopped, and 6 weeks later she was pregnant. I agree with the other girls though, I would talk to your OBGYN first.

i came off the pill in june 2005 and we still havent conceived yet. depending on your age i think i would come off thepill and take your chances could it could take up to a year or so before you could get pregnent

my dh and I have been trying for 6months after coming off the pill, which I was on for two years. my husband and I are 22 and 23..hopefully this will be our month!!

I was just wondering...I got off BC after only 2 months...and I had spotting off and on for a few days about a week after my AF...will the spotting make my ovulation date change? Or am I just a worry freak? This is the first time of actually "trying" for a baby. My other 4 children (3 pregnancies) were conceived while on BC. Anyway, any answers will help...just a little confused. TY! :)

well i was on the pill for 7 years. i stopped taking them 2-05 then got preg 7-05 i had a m/c in oct then got preg again in nov, had another m/c in dec. now i am preg again for the 3rd time i am 11 weeks and everything seems okay this time. i have low progesterone so i have to take these supplements for the 1st 12 weeks of my pregnancy. my doctor said this is not related to me being on the pill though.

I went off the pill in Feb. when I got married. We tried for the first time in June and got pregnant. I will tell you that I did not have a period in May which made me think that I was not ovulating and that it would take me a long time to get preg. little did I know that a month later it would happen. My doctor was actually talking about putting me on clomid. I am 35 years old. Not sure if age will be a factor or not. But if you are in your 30's you might consider getting off the pill at least 6 months before you really want to try.

Well I had been on the pill for about 4 years when my hubby and I decided to get pregnant, I stopped taking my birth control and pretty much became pregnant right away, I stopped my pills in early feb and found out we was pregnant in early march, I am now 24 weeks pregnant due nov 24th with a baby boy. We had no trouble after me stoping my pill in fact we got pregnant MUCH sooner then we had expected we was prepared for it to take us at least around 6 months not b.c I have been on the pill for years before then but b.c I have a medical condition that for most woman it makes it hard for them to get pregnant and its a common cause of infertility, So not only was we prepared for it to take a while but also scared that maybe I could't even get pregnant.. None the less it was a very big shock but pleasant surprise that I became pregnant so soon after stoping my BC, I actually asked my OB how I became pregnant so soon after stopping and she explain to me that for some woman when they first stop taking their BC their body basically jumps at the first chance to get pregnant and it actually helps them conceive faster and easier and this was probably my case. Every woman is different and there is no proven fact that BC can cause a defect in a womans body and make her un-able to get pregnant. For some woman they may stop their BC pills and not end up pregnant for a 6months- and year later and for some can end up 2 weeks later pregnant the BC actually didn't have anything to do with it those woman that it takes longer more then likely would have had the same problem getting pregnant if they had never even taken BC it would have likely still took them just as long to get pregnant since every woman is different.. I would suggest staying on your BC until you are actually ready to try and have a baby.... ~Karah.
