A Dirty Question

My baby is 11 weeks old and recently the frequency and consistancy of his bowel movements has changed. He used to poop 2-3 times a day and it was yellow and seedy/cottage cheese like texture. Now it is one big poop per day but it is much more runny and closer to orange than yellow. Is this normal?

Sounds pretty normal. My son had the seedy poop for a while about 4/5 times a day and then it slowed down to 2x and was green for a while.

my son also has only one bm a day actually somedays he doesn't have any. this is my 2nd baby and my 1st was the same way, so i guess its normal. carsonandjustin@aol.comb

Absolutely normal. Around 3 months b___stfed babies poops will change to larger and more infrequent. My son is 5 months and he frequently explodes with poop coming out of his diaper! This happens like everyother day. Also, b___st milk is a natural laxitive, so babies stools will be more runny. The color is fine as well.

I've never seen an orange poop. Really stinky Green, Brown, Yellow but never orange. A quick call to the ped. couldn't hurt to ease your mind. The less frequency is completly normal. I still keep track and my son usually goes 2 times per day and every few days 0-1 times.

Breastfed baby poop can be anything from pale yellow to brown (and everything in between), it's usually watery, and almost jelly like and sometimes has small little 'seeds' (curds of milk) in it, it doesn't really smell bad either and frequency can vary from several times/day to once every few days. As a baby's system matures, frequency usually declines (ie: around 8-12 weeks). Formula fed baby poop is usually stinky, more solid/pasty and darker in color, green, brown or blackish. Lots more waste product in formula that baby can't digest, so it has to pa__s out in their poop. It is never 'silly' to call your ped if you are concerned, but if he/she is not knowlegable about b___stfeeding, they may suspect a problem if your baby's poop differs from his formula fed counterparts.....just some thoughts....
