I know there are caffiene limits when you are pregnant. Is there a limit as to how much caffiene you can consume while you are br___tfeeding and what are the effects to the child. Also, If you do consume too much caffiene should you pump and dump, or do you just wait longer before feeding.

as far as i know the rules for pregnancy are similar to the rules for b___stfeeding, but i'm not 100% certain. i know lots of mommas who drink more coffee and soda than they did during pregnancy and their kids don't seem to have any adverse effects but i really don't know.

Being a Starbucks addict, I was all excited, thinking I can go back, but... my Lactation Center told me that as Maleficent said, same rules apply, and I have to limit my intake... the same as being pregnant. *sigh*

I learned my caffeine lesson after consuming a 42 oz for 42 cents Dr Pepper from McDonalds. My beautiful baby was wide awake (looking like she had been taking some speed, or something) and ready to go out partying at extreme hours of the night. I finally put her under her kicking/batting toy on the floor and fell asleep next to her. It was a great lesson on the transfer of stuff from my body to hers. Needless to say, I severely limited my caffeine intake after that point.
