Nyquil has a few different things in it, right? From what I have read, the decongestant can cause issues, like fussiness in the baby (esp. in the first six weeks) and a decrease in milk supply. If you need the decongetant, chose something with 30 mg or less of pseudoephedrine. Look at http://kellymom.com/health/meds/cold-remedy.html#meds (only dash is between words cold remedy.) I would call your doc or pharmacist to be absolutely sure, though. Hope you feel better.

I got sick a few weeks ago and NEEDED it. I nursed, then hit it over one of baby's longer stretches of sleep. For me, that was over night, then the morning stretch (usually 5 hours, or so). There is a lot of stuff in it, so I wouldn't take it continuously, but 1-2 doses usually works for me.

Watch out for pseudoephedrine and also for otc meds containing alcohol. Both can cause problems.

I ended up taking it one night and it helped. I called the doctor the next day and I did have a sinus infection and an ear infection. He put me on an antibiotic.
