The World Health Organization's infant-feeding recommendation. B--tfeeding is an unequalled way of providing ideal food for the healthy growth and development of infants; it is also an integral part of the reproductive process with important implications for the health of mothers. As a global public health recommendation, infants should be exclusively br___tfed for the first six months of life to achieve optimal growth, development and health. Thereafter, to meet their evolving nutritional requirements, infants should receive nutritionally adequate and safe complementary foods while br___tfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Exclusive br___tfeeding from birth is possible except for a few medical conditions, and unrestricted exclusive br___tfeeding results in ample milk production. WHO also recommends that appropriate complementary feedings should start from the age of six months with continued br___tfeeding up to 2 years or beyond.

It just seems that when the child has a full set of teeth and can ask to be fed, it's too old for the b___bie. Try some Cherrios.

I was at a La Leche League meeting and it was said if you take into account gestation, human development and life span and compare it to every other animal on the planet. Humans should b___stfeed anywhere from 2 1/2 to 7 years. I wasn't b___stfed at all and now I am very allergic to milk. Also eggs, oranges, apples, grapes and tomatos. I have had digestive troubles my whole life. I b___stfed my daughter until she was 2 1/2. I plan to b___stfeed my second until he weans himself.

I agree that b___stfeeding is great, but it seems a little inappropriate when a child is 2-5 years old. My SIL's daughter was still b___stfeeding when her daughter was well over three and her daughter would actually ask for her b___b. Or say "Please Mommy, just five minutes?". Am I the only one that finds this creepy?

I think it's creepy too. Downright gross, actually. Alot of women do it until kids are like five years old now, and I just think - d__n, that's kindergarten!!!!!! The thought of a long legged kid, hanging off your lap, looking at you with totally conscious eyes....ew. It's disturbing. They are starting to be be aware of bodies, and s_xual feelings and such by then, so no way is my b___st going in their mouth...it makes me want to vomit.

I think it's creepy too. Once they're that old, they can get all the nutrients they need from another source.

Just because they are getting b___stmilk doesn't mean you have to actually let them get it from your b___bs! You can express it. I don't breasyfeed pa__sed 9 month though. By then they are on solids, and only feeding once a day it start to hurt my nipples.

I was b___stfeeding both of my children. One until 12 months and the other one until 18 months. I didn't think it was creepy. I would say up to two years is the best. After two kids eat solids and they can have cows milk. It is also very health.
