for the first few days, my girl was mostly able to br___t feed. now she won't even latch on, she gets so frustrated when my milk doesn't come out as fast as she would like. we have been finger feeding her because sns stopped working. also, when she tryys the bottle, it's like she just gulps it into her mouth but doesn't swallow properly and spits most of it up. she is currently 11 days old and has no medical problems. help!

it was very frustrating to me when i first tried to b___stfeed. it takes a lot of practice on both you and the baby's part. don't give up. try every time you are going to feed the baby to use the b___st first. consult a lactation expert, books, magazines, the internet to make sure you are having her latch on properly. also, you need to try to calm down when you are b___stfeeding b/c your let down reflex will be slow to start if you are worked up. and make sure the areola is entirely in her mouth or at least most of it...i know it is very frustrating, but in time it will work out and you will love the experience...don't give up. consult someone in the field of b___stfeeding if you must but i learned a lot from books on b___stfeeding also.

Have you figured out her pattern yet? ie, does she get hungry every 2 hours, every hour and a half? If so, then about 10 minutes before she "should" be hungry, offer her the b___st - she'll probably be hungry enough to take it but not so starving that she's mad about speed of letdown. Also, stop giving her the bottle. It's easier to drink from a bottle so it makes them lazy, which causes problems with b___stfeeding.
