Just wondering, I am pumping and having daddy feed her 1 bottle a day and I pump out 4 ounces (she is 7 weeks) and sometimes she doesnt finish it. Can I put it back into the fridge for another feeding? I have been throwing it away so far. Also when I pump after each session do I have to wash the pump supplies and sterilize them? I have been pumping and putting everything in the fridge after each session until I get the 4 oz. Then I take it all apart and clean etc.. I would assume this is ok. cause if your at work and pumping you cant clean after each pumping session. Thanks for your help.

Technically, you should dump the leftover milk an hour after the baby has started the bottle. I hace read though, that no reports of harm have come from putting the bottle right back in the fridge after feeding and using it again later. Should be fine to keep the pump in the fridge between sessions. I wash mine, both at home and at work. A few times, I have rinsed the pump after each use and put the pieces in the coldpack with the milk.

Heather, it depends if it's freshly expressed or not. Once pumped, it can be left out for up to 4 hours. If you've chilled it, it has to be used within one hour. As for the sterilizing, I just wash with very hot water and sterilize weekly. I don't know if that's good or not though....

I rinse my stuff under scalding hot water from the sink and then wash it with hot soapy water every couple days.
