i went into labor last week and my baby was born 7 weeks premature. she is still in the hospital and i am expressing colostrum every 1-3 hours for her and taking it up to the hospital each day for her (they are tube feeding her the colostrum).... my question.. i gave birth 6 days ago and only managing to express 80mls or so a day with a br___t pump... when will my milk come in? im not sure if it already is, if this is just colostrum still or what.... when will the volume increase? i am really hoping it is soon.. my baby is sick and she needs all the br___tmilk i can get to her!..... any help with this one??

I've never expressed colostrum, so I'm not sure how much to expect at a time. Concerning which it is, when mine leaked it was thick, sticky and clear. The milk came in after a week if I remember correctly, white and obvious. The more often you express or pump the better. It will help you get a good supply going. Good luck and congrats.

80 mls is good!!! It will gradually increase in the coming weeks and certainly when your baby latches on. Your milk has some colostrum in it still I bet (your milk is prob. in transition). You are doing great - keep it up. How is your baby doing? Is she getting some formula too?
