HELP I NEED TO INCREASE MY MILK

I have been pumping away for about 6 weeks now since returning to work. My son won't go to the br___t anymore. I pump every 2-3 hours and where I used to pump a good 8 oz (which is not much to begin with) during the work day, I'm now struggling to pump 4! What can I do to increase my milk just using the pump. It's getting really frustrating.

same here. i pump and pump and sometimes i get 4 oz from both b___sts combined or just 1 ounce combined. its terrible and i feel like a failure. anyone know what we can do?

if I pump and wait 10 mins and pump again, I get another let down and get 50% more milk than if I had just stopped. try taking fenugreek too :) do a google search for things that inc. supply. I forgot what they are.

Fenugreek is good to take, also Traditional Medicines makes a tea called Mothers Milk it will help your supply.

ok.. a bit of of point here.. but when i have not enough sleep my milk supply will drop a lot. So maybe sleeping more might help

the most milk will come in between 1-4 am. this a well known thing, not sure why we do it. some say its due to the baby requiring more calories during the night

Where can I get fenugreek? Is it over the counter from pharmacies? I've looked for mothers milk tea and can't find it at our grocery store. Getting lots of sleep since Joey sleeps through the night. I think part of the problem is he was nursing once a day and won't anymore - plus stress (inlaws visited and Joey started daycare!). Please keep pouring in suggestions - I'll try anything. Anne - its nice to know I'm not alone.

You can get the Mother's Milk and Fenugreek at a health food store. Also, you can order it online www.traditionalmedicinals.com You might want to look into a hospital grade rental pump that can help stimulate your supply if you are not already using one.

I am using a Medela pump in style (everyday use)

The Medela Pump in Style is wonderful. However for someone having supply issues and exclusively pumping, a hospital grade rental would probably do better for you. Contact a lactation consultant and ask for rental recommendations. My SIL also started with the Medela PIS, when she was exclusively pumping however it was did not stimulate enough. Ultimately she ended up renting and her supply returned.

My hubbie was already upset by having to spend $200 on the medela. Do you know what rentals usually run or other ways to stimulate?

Jenn... - August 31

I think rentals are typically about $30 per month. Tell your hubby how much formula would cost, it would be cheaper to rent.

in my area the pumps are about $75 per month. very expensive...

Ladies - I slept w/o a bra last night and my milk went up the first pump of the day today - lets see if it keeps up. I also played with the nipples too yesterday - oh what fun!

I noticed the same thing the last 2 nights not wearing a bra.... glad that someone else noticed it - maybe that means we're onto something....

kh - so long as we don't start to leak all over our beds - this could be a real easy fix!

i wear one of those maternity stretchy tank tops, with those clips on the strap that allow me to pump easier. they have one of those built in bra deals. i wear b___st pads to help with leaking. i have found the shirt helps a lot with milk production, so you guys are onto something no doubt. good to know it helps. i was just doing it more lately to get comfortable. those bras are e-vil
