I'm in the navy and knew that once I went back to the fleet I might have to leave my baby and have made sure I over produce milk so that I can have enough to leave for a week or two and she would have plenty frozen in a month I go back to sea and will be looking at a two week underway. I fully intend to fight for my right to pump and freeze on the ship but does any one know about how much milk i need to leave her with while i'm gone? We are very carefull about labeling the milk and freezing it correctly because my husband and I feel so strongly about the benifits of br___t milk. I have about 200 ounces frozen so far averageing 14 ounces to freeze a day. Will I have enough for her?

How old is she? Does she wake to eat at night? Well my daughter goes to daycare for a little under 8 hours a day and she's 3.5 months old and I have to take at least 16 oz of b___stmilk a day with her. She eats 4 times while there and 4 oz each, sometimes less. I also froze a lot and have approximately 20 - 8 ounce bags frozen. That would last her maybe 2 wks in daycare, five days a week. She goes through 2 bags a day just at daycare so I send 10 a week. So no, you probably don't have enough. If you don't leave for another month, keep pumping and freezing and make sure they let you pump and freeze on the ship!!!! Is there somewhere you can freeze it?

She is 3 months old. she sleep through the night really well waking up sometimes for a comfort suckle but falls immeditly back to sleep. In the regulations the navy has to support me in b___st feeding so I will have access to a freezer I was going to bring my own cooler to keep in the freezer. ok so 16 oz for eight hours times 2 is 32 she goes to bed at 2200 wakes up at 0700 thats 9 hours shes in sleep mode so figure about 5 ounces for her mid-night snack thats 37 ounces my first under way is 2 weeks so 14 times 37 is 518 I have about 30 days till I report if i freeze 15 oz a day till then thats 450 plus my 200 I have now thats 650. but she'll be 4 months when I leave so will her appit_te grow also and so then do you think I will have enough?

Every baby is different as far as appet_te getting bigger. I read from 3-6 months they don't increase in demand like formula fed babies but ya never know. Yes that's a lot of milk! Do you have a deep freeze you could store it in? Who is watching her while you are gone? Her dad? Well just make sure you pump A LOT on the ship so you keep your supply up. Hopefully she'll be able to nurse when you get home and there's no confusion, or you could just keep her on bottled b___stmilk too. I keep my frozen bags in ice cream pails in my freezer which is just a regular top freezer in the fridge. Two pails take up a lot of room and there's only 20 bags in there. So you might want to find a deep freeze or invest in a small one. Do you know anyone who has one you could store it in while you're gone?
