I have a cold/flu symptoms and wondering if taking medecine is a good idea while brest feeding. My energy level is down, and I'm constantly dizzy and need to recover quickly. I've been avoiding taking anything but now that I'm getting worst I think it might be a godo idea but not if it will effect feeding my baby. Any help/advice is appreciated in advance.

I am just recovering from the same symptoms, I went to the dr and he sd I could use Robitussin the plain kind, and take tylenol. He did say that decongestonts(sp?) may slow your milk supply down while your taking it. I have no problem with it though. He also told me to watch for mastis, the b___st infection that sometimes a the cold/flu can cause it, he sd to watch for sore, red or itchy nipples, and low grade fever you cant get rid of and flu like symptoms that last for more that 5 days. He gave me an antibiotic, but I dont think it really helped, I think it just had to run its course. It has been 2 weeks since I was sick and I still have a cough. Hope this helps. Get Well!!!!!
