Pump Breast Milk Instead Of Formula

I say whatever you feel comfortable with. My sister in law b___stfed all 3 of her kids and they are always sick. They either have an ear infection or strep throat. It is a never ending cycle and no they are not day care kids.I am not saying b___stfeeding isn't beneficial. I didn't b___stfeed my son and he is 3 and very healthy. I had to go back to work right away so formula was best for me.

i'm just so glad to hear that someone else had the same thoughts I do. I'm sorry, but I find b___stfeeding creepy.... plus why shouldn't the husband help with feedings... and not just once in a while, but at least half the time. I plan to pump exclusively. Thinking that someday my grown child would have the knowledge they sucked on my b___sts is just not something I can handle! I will be proud to tell them that never occurred. ...and yes I realize giving borth is pretty personal too, but I can't seem to find an easy way around that one ;) Don't mean to offend anyone, but I wanted to make sure people know they are not alone in their thoughts and shouldn't feel bad.

I have a 10 week old and I'm b___stfeeding. My sister just had a baby two weeks ago and feels the same as you about b___stfeeding so she uses formula. It is a very personal decision yet I do know that pumping does not provide the same stimulation as the baby sucking therefore milk will dry up within 5 weeks while using the pump. The pump is less efficient than the baby. It will take 20 minutes per b___st to almost empty them of milk while it takes 10 minutes per b___st on average for the baby's sucking to empty the b___st. The lack of stimulation will not provide your body the response to produce richer milk that is needed by the baby as it grows therefore your milk will be less mature. You would be better off providing your child w/ a formula that has DHA and iron in it since you would know that the baby were getting it's needs. Any amount of time even if it's only one week of feeding from the b___st will provide the immunity that you might be looking for that b___stmilk provides to a newborn. You don't have to do it at all or for a long time but I'll tell you that I wanted to quit often but decided to give myself 4 weeks and if I didn't get comfortable with it by then I'd call it quits. I still pump and offer that when going out in public because I do not feel comfortable feeding in public. Good luck and do not succ_mb to strong opinions regarding this very personal decision!
