Hello. For reasons too numerous to list here, I have decided to wean my 5 1/2 week old. I am hoping to doing this slowly (introduce one bottle per day for several days, then move it to 2 bottles) to minimize my discomfort. I have a TON of milk! I am wondering if anyone has any other advice to make this smoother. I can already feel it (full br___ts!) when I skip the feeding for one bottle.

From what I've read is exactly what you said. Slowly cut back on nursing and replace with bottles or either formula or b___stmilk. Are you just weaning him or will you pump still?

The slower the better. If you are feeling so much discomfort from missing a feeding, try just half a feeding at a time. Wait a few day between dropping in order to give your body time to react. Be careful not to go to quickly or you can get a b___st infection--very painful. Keep an eye out for a slight fever.

C, I haven't totally decided if I will wean 100% or pump a little bit (if my milk supply stays up). I guess I will have to see how it goes.
