I took that "exclusive" part seriously, and my DD didn't get anything but b___stmilk till she was 6 months old.

same with me. we tried cereal at 6 months and she hated it. we tried again later with other soft baby foods and she still hated them so i didn't push the issue. she only wanted to nurse. she wasn't ready to eat real food till she was 10 months old, so she ended up bypa__sing that baby food mush stage altogether and went right for the "real" food. to this day, she is 16 months old - she refuses anything remotely resembling soft food - applesauce, pudding, etc. but now i'm just rambling....

I feed my son only b___stmilk up until 4 1/2 months & then as per the Dr's Ok I started him on rice & barley cereal as he was still waking up 4 times a night to nurse. I am still b___stfeeding about 6 times a day. My Dr. said most babies are ready in between 4-6 months, but all babies are different. I knew Carter was ready because he loves his cereal & eats really well from the spoon & we never had any problems at all. It also helped him sleep through the night better too.

I started cereal when my pediatrician reported that it was OK. I believe it was on about 5 months. I started with rice, then oats, barley then mixed.
At 6 months I started vegetables and then fruit and meat.

With my first I started cereal at 5 months, and he loved it. He had lots of problems later with allergies. My doctor told me to stay exclusivly b___stfeeding with my second untill 12 months to help her to not have the same problems. It worked, and I didn't have to deal with all those little jars of baby food either. She just went straight to "real" food. Like Kate said she doesn't like any squishy foods, but eats everything else. My son on the other hand is a very picky eater and prefers squishy and puree foods. Interesting huh?

My baby has eaten some rice cereal since abou 3 months. She won't take a bottle, and I'm back at work part time, so since she started showing some of the "cues", I gave her some. It is generally just enough cereal to make the milk thick enough to stay on the spoon so she can eat it.
