My second c-section was a breeze! The O.R. was comfortable, the spinal was a little uncomfortable but once it was in it was no problem. I didn't feel anything but got to listen and see my baby right away and after they sewed me up I got to hold him right away and nurse him. I had a spinal narcotic that was active in my system for 3 days so I did not have to have an groggy pain killers and got to spend the four days enjoying my baby fairly comfortably. They had me stay in bed the first 24 hours but then I was up and around and showered. I was 32 and it was my second c-section in 15 months and it went great! So stay positive! Good luck!

Leslie, I have to agree. My second was a breeze too! Mine were almost 3 years apart and I couldn't believe how much easier my second was than my first! I was up walking around hours later. I'm sure you'll do just fine and just think, this is the only surgery you get rewarded for!! And what better of a reward could you ask for?!

Leslie I am 40 years old and had my 10lb8oz son via csection this past Oct. It had been 21 years since I gave birth to my dd back in 1986. She was 9lbs and the delivery was basically awful. The csection this time around was MUCH better and I recovered really fast. Had some leg swelling for a couple weeks but that was all. I understand what you mean when you say this pregnancy has been harder. Trust me. I hardly recall my dd's pregnancy....I was only 19. Ds's pregnancy was okay until I hit about 5-6mos gestation. Hugely uncomfortable... It was gratifying to realize my discomfort came from basically giving birth to a "moose" It was told to me while on the L&D unit at the hospital that older moms tend to have faster recovery times. I was up and out of bed showering the night of the surgery. Total hospital stay was 2 days which is very good. Got my mobility back almost immediately... Just SO relieved to have finally HAD my son. He used to beat me up soooooooo bad I would double over in pain.

HI there. I had my first when I was 25 and my last at age 38, with 2 in between. So a total of 4 sections. I found them all just fine, feeling really good by the 10 day mark. With my last and having 3 other little kids to care for I found it a little longer recovery and by that I am only 3 weeks post partum and now feel just fine, so I mean like maybe a week longer than the first 3. nothing significant. Keep your incision dry and clean and take it easy at the beginnning. I'm sure you'll do just fine. Also, with my 4th I had a tubal and idn't notice anything different as far as pain goes. Good luck.

thanks ladies...i am contemplating a tubal then too...so, i hear now that they are putting anesthesia directly in to the wound after delivery and before they close you up...and that this keeps you "numb" there for 24 hours or so. i hope so...with my ds i remember them telling me i had to walk and i was crying when i hit the door to my room! did anyone have that anesthetic? i know things have changed since i had my boy.
