BROOKE - January 4

I HAVE A PLANNED C-SECTION THAT IS ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY....I AM VERY NERVOUSE ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. I HAD AN EMERGENCY C-SECTION WITH MY SON BUT I KNOW IT WILL PROBABLY BE MUCH DIFFERENT HAVING A PLANNED ONE. I NEED SOME COMFORT TO EASE MY WORRIES..PLEASE...IF ANYONE COULD EXPLAIN HOW THERES WENT ...

Jbear - January 4

I had a planned c-section in August. I was told not to eat anything after midnight, and to go to the hospital several hours before the surgery was scheduled. When I got there, I changed into a hospital gown and they started an iv. Then they asked me a bunch of questions about my medical history, and gave me an antacid to drink (drink it fast like a shot!). They took me into the operating room and started the anesthesia. When it was working, they inserted the catheter and hung a drape to block my stomach from my view. Then they let my husband come in and stand near my head. The doctors (mine and one that was helping him) came in and began the c-section. I could feel some tugging and pressure, but no pain. Once my baby was born, they put the id bracelets on her feet, diapered her, then wrapped her in blankets and handed her to my husband. He held her while they finished up. I had my tubes tied also, and toward the end I started feeling what they were doing. I told the anesthesiologist and she increased the medication. When they were done, I was taken to a recovery area. My husband and our baby came with me. I didn't feel up to holding her yet, but he put her on my chest for a little while. Then they noticed she was getting a little cold, so they put her in a warmer, then took her to the nursery to get cleaned up, and took me to my room. The surgery was at 10:30 am, by 10 at night I was up walking around the hallways (dragging the iv stand and catheter, but walking). My recovery seemed a lot quicker than my first c-section.

Brooke.I am not sure if you read my story.I had a planned section, for my second,it was so much better than my v____al birth.I know you will be worried, thats natural, but honestly, for me,things seemed more in control, you knew what was happening, for how long, and when the baby is given to you,you are not tired etc.Remember to think of things you would like to happen, its your day,if you would like music played then ask for it,the baby handed to you immediately, then ask.The recovery is not too bad, getting out of bed that 1st time is the most difficult, but every day you will feel better. If you do start to get an infection, there is medicine to deal with it.I would hate to have a natural birth again. Please,Brooke, tell us how it went will you?

Jbear... how long did your surgery last, including the tubal?

Jbear - January 5

Michelle, I think they started at 10:30 and were done by 11:00...there was a clock in there but I wasn't really looking. I know it was quick though.

Brooke, c-sections are really pretty easy. The recovery can be harder than a v____al birth but the procedure itself is a walk in the park. You won't feel a thing and it is over really quickly. The best part is, you get a baby!!!!

Mine isn't too different from Jbear's. It was really easy for me actually. 5 hours after the section I had the nurse remove the catheter and I was up taking care of the baby. I went home the next day since everything went so well. My section started at 5:14PM and my daughter was born at 5:34.

Hi Brooke, I wish you well, but I did not have a good experience with my c-section. I do not feel like they are pretty easy, but some women do fine. I had problems with high spinal nad other events, so things did not go in concert so to speak. Just remember that it will be less panicky because it is planned, but I gotta tell ya, the night before is pretty nervewracking and the drive to the hospital is when I almost jumped out of the car at a stoplight. But we all get through it and you will have your little baby soon. Best of luck to you.

Brooke--I had a c-section with my first son due to him being breech. I was terrified at first, but it was not at all as bad as I thought it would be. I went into surgery at 5:00, the baby was born at 5:25, and the surgery was over at 6:00. Recovery wasn't even as bad for me as I had heard. The whole miracle of birth is so exciting no matter how he or she gets here. I will be having another planned c-section in June, and I hope it goes as well as the last. Good luck to you and try to enjoy every minute of it!!!!!
