Can Need Of C Section Be Hereditary

As far as I know I'm not pregnant at the moment, but I tend to want to do things naturally, and since I have been having s_x without birthcontrol pills, I thought I would check. I know that my mother and and grandmother have both had complicated menstrual cycles and births, and all four times that my mother has given birth, she had to have a c-section done. I was wondering if that would be evidence that I will have to go through the same thing?

Do they know the reason why she had to have c-sections? Back when our moms were in their child-bearing years many docs believed, "once a c-section, always a c-section." Could that be why she had all 4 that way? Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much. I suppose some structural problems (too small pelvis, etc.) could be inherited, but it's more than likely just a fluke thing. Good luck when you do have babies!!

Actually, my mom predicted it, strangely enough. o.O There were complications with each pregnancy. I can't remember the specfics, but I know that my mom loses a lot of blood just from her period [she had to be hospitalized a couple times.]

My mom had something like that, too. When it got to it's worst she hemorrhaged and had to be taken to the hospital and had a hysterectomy (age 34). My mom, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother all had it...and at young ages. I did, too and I'm 32. A few months ago I had an Endometrial Ablation (burning of the lining of the uterus in an attempt to not have so much monthly bleeding) because I was becoming anemic, but wanted to try that before hysterectomy (b/c my mom lost an ovary in hers and I'm afraid of losing both and going through early menopause). Anyway, I had 3 c-sections, but they were unrelated to that. I had scarring of the cervix from a D&C for m/c (first pregnancy) and can't dilate, which I found out after a long, hard labor with my first- actually, I found out in an u/s while pregnant with my 2nd baby. Anyway.... got on a tangent LOL... I was going to say, my mom was able to have all four of us naturally, even with the bleeding issues, so I guess there's always hope!! Hopefully you'll get your natural delivery :-)

I dont really think its herediatry. My mom delivered me and my sister fine and my sister delivered normal also. Now me, I've had 2 c-sections and having #3 soon.

It has been 40 years since a member of my immediate family has had a natural birth. I am going to try to break the streak. I don't know if its hereditary-I just know that my mom and grandmother and aunt had major complications, of which I am not exhibiting. I will let you know in 2 weeks at the most :)

I am the first one in my immediate family that had to have a csection, well i have had 3 actually. the only other family member i can think of that had a csection was my cousin because her babies where breach. also my greatgrandmother 11 children, my grandmother 3, my mother 4 children all naturally. the only way i can see a csection being hereditary if the problem that caused them to have csections was hereditary.
