Hi.. just quick question.. just had a C-Section on Friday (4 days ago) I have staples holding everything together. I was told that I shouldnt put anything on it, just keep dry. I feel like Im doing nothing! There must be something I can put onto it to keep it from getting infected.. Im so afraid of an infection and I've heard so many stories of it happening. Any advice??? xxx

I have had 3 csections and never once got an infection but my ex SIL did. What I did while I had my staples in I would put a pad across the wound to help absorb sweat, secretion and all that yucky stuff and I had to change it very often. I would also take a clean wet wash cloth and clean the wound, very carefully I would han dry it with another wash cloth and expose it to the air to also help with air drying it. After I got my staples out I would wash the wound with antibacterial soap and air dried it alot. Just be careful when cleaning not to pull too hard on the skin and watch how much your leaking (if you are) and what color it is. good luck to you

Don't put anything on it, just like they said. They will be taking the staples out soon, and thats that. Just keep it dry and clean.

I cant beleive everyone gets staples in the states!!! your cuts must be really big! Here in canada they dont use staples for c section cuts because it leaves a bigger scar... But with my c-section. They said I could wash it gently with normal soap to keep it clean. that was it...

Lily I live in canada, lol I had 1 child in alberta and 2 in BC (expecting my 3rd here) and each time I had stables. I found my scar to be not to bad and stables are suppose to be better than st_tches. The high risk OBGYN who saw me said my scar looked great on the outside.

My Dr. st_tched me with dissolving st_tches from the inside out and I have absolutely no scarring, 14 months later. But I did have some draining. I was told to keep it dry and place a large gaze pad opened up along the incision. This helped soak up the drainage. I had one tiny 1/4 inch spot that got a little oozy at my 6 week appointment . My Dr. put me on an antibiotic and I was fine...so yes there are horror stories about infection but mine was a good one...every thing was fine. Good luck!

Lily, I live in Canada as well (Alberta) and they stapled me. I had my c-section 2 weeks ago and they had the staples in 3 days before they were removed and steri-strips put on. I can hardly see my scar. I've been putting polysporin on it every couple of days to prevent infection, my doctor said this was fine but not necessary. It's just important to keep the incision area dry and if it gets damp from a shower or whatever, make sure it air dries before you cover it up again.
