Did The Epi Cause The C Section

How dilated were you when you got an epidural? I was in labor for about 5 hours but dilated only 1 cm. I was in excruciating pain so I got an epi at that time. After 16 hours, I was only at 4cm and they tried to induce me with Pitocin but it stressed the baby's heart. So I ended up getting a C-Section. I was wondering if I got an epi too soon? (I also posted this in the labor section)
