I M Electing A Ceasarean

I am choosing to have a ceasarean birth with this pregnancy. My last birth I was in so much pain imaginable I thought I was going to die. I had my husband John with me who started off being concerned then tried in vain to get me to hold it together. I was withering about in pain, could hardly keep still for them to put the epidural in. You see, what was happening it was later found out,was that my tailbone shattered, something to do with the position I was in,and them giving me stuff to get labour going. Every time the baby went onto that area it hit my tailbone and the nerves around it. People apologised afterwards when it was realised the problem. My husband said it was like a blood bath. I never ever want to experience a va___al birth. I have read that you get over it quickly, I can tell you for easily the first week I could barely sit down, and standing up was extremely painful. This is why I am reading up about this type of birth.

I understand your decision. I hope your delivery is uncomplicated and your recovery is as well, I would also like to congratulate you on your pregnancy.

Don't normally go with the elective c's for non-medical moms, BUT, in your case, I don't think a c-section could be any worse! Good luck to you and congrats on your baby-to-be.

I am sorry to hear about your story.I too had a terrible v____al birth, it did not shatter my tailbone, but I too thought I was going to die,I remember thinking the pain could not get worse, but it did,at one stage I felt like my legs were ripping apart. The pain was too intense. I had a c-section from choice for my 2nd birth,I had it all arranged before pregnancy. I can re-a__sure you, from my experience it was great. You feel no pain in the operating room, just tugging, the staff are very friendly.I actually felt relaxed and positve, so much more controlled, you knew what was happening, etc. The recovery, for me, also was not as bad as I expected. Getting out of bed for the first time you do feel sore, but again people are there to help, and unlike when you are in the throws of labour, you are feeling perectly normal, and can communicate easily. Just keep on top of the pain meds. Lets face it, a c-section is not going to kill you,and cannot be worse than your experience. Good luck.

I hate to tell you this, but for a lot longer than the first week you will find walking, moving, turning, coughing, lifting sleeping, defecating, laughing, crying, getting up and down out of beds and chairs and nursing your baby very difficult too. That must have been awful having your tailbone break! Just keep in mind, there can be a lot of blood loss with c-sections as well and the scarring inside and outside is forever. I think you are one of those ladies who just doesn't have a good choice either way. Good luck.

Thank you for your comments. It is true, I do not expect a ceasarean to be any worse, even with complications. They say the recovery is longer, and I have read stories where ladies have been up and about just after the operation. As for the scarring lasts forever. I think it will heal and suspect the place where the scar will be is not going to bother me that much it is not as if its on the face!

Hello there Congrats on your pregnancy and I agree with the other posts, however, there are risks a__sociated with surgery as well. Also, if you were planning on a large family c-sections could affect that wish as well in terms of how many are safe to have. Best of luck!
