I Had A C Section On July Fourth And At My Two Weeks Post Partum Visit They Had To Rush Me To Emergency Surgery To Re Open My Incision Because I Was Tunneling. I Now Have An Open Wound That We Have To Cleand And Pack Twice A Day. I Still Hurts Really Bad And The Tissue Is Dying Now We Have To Use A Cream That Eats The Dead Tissue Away because They Can't Cut Away The Tissue Due To The Underlying St_tches In My Fashcia. Can Anyone Help How Long Is This Going To Take To Heal??

I know someone that this happened to. My c-section incision opened, but it did not tunnel so I was lucky. Mine was open into the fat layers and took 7 weeks to heal. I will see if my friend who experieinced this will visit this forum to comment. But if it makes you feel any better, my friend is fine. It sounds like it was miserable while she was gong thru it, but she is OK now.

My main recommendation to you is to make sure you are working with a wound care specialist on this, not just your OB. Even in my case, which was a much more minor complication than yours, my OB did not know enough about wound care and wound healing to give me correct advise. A wound care specialist (usually a nurse) will be knowledgable about the latest studies and products for wound care, and will help speed your recovery and minimize your scarring. Your doc might need to refer you to the wound care center affiliated with your hospital.

I just wanted to let you know this exact same thing hashappened to me. I had my c-section on July 18 and the following Monday I went back to the doctor and the Doctor actually had to tear it open on the outside and started packing it. I also have home health care coming twice a day. Last week was the worst but daily I am feeling better. I am now down to 2packs of gauze packed inside as of today so I am healing fast. I only have 4 more weeks left of maternity leave so I hope I heal soon.

ask your doctor or wound care person if you are a candidate for a wound vac..this is something that will prevent that skin from dying and constantly provide equal pressure for your wound to heal better...
