I have been meaning to write this down, because I was scared to death before my C-section. Our daughter was breech and I had tried everything to turn her, so that I could have a natural birth but nothing worked. So, it was scheduled for Feb. 17th- in SWITZERLAND! Which means...everything was done in German. Now, I am not that horrible in German, but definitely not comfortable enough to be given all the info about everything in that language. Needless to say, I was scared to death. I had never even been in a hospital before and here I was about to do it in a foreign country (I have lived here for 3.5 years, my husband is Swiss). So, after all that is said and done- not bad and I would do it again---if I have to. The spinal block freaked me out the most. The only thing that I felt during the entire thing was the first shot to numb the skin. I cant' tell you how easy it actually was. Second...words of advice- take the strong pain killers before you stand up for the first 2-3 times. I stood up 2 times the first day and once in the morning on the second with the help of the strong stuff. By that night, I was pacing the floor with my baby. And, don't look down when you stand up- it makes you sick and feel horrible! Walk as much as possible...it really does help! It hasnt' been a month yet and I am walking everywhere and hauling things (even though I know I shouldn't do that last one). I rarely have pain.... Just a little info. It's a scary experience if you have never done it, but it really can turn out to be good.
