Hi there ladies,
My name is Lynne and I am 30 years old. I live in Clinton, TN. My husband and I were pregnant last year and our baby was due November 1, 2005. I went into early labor on July 16, 2005. My labor was stopped and emergency cerclage was placed and my labor was stopped for three days. On July 19, 2005 Luke Allen made his appearance at 25.1 weeks weighing 1lb 12.5 oz. He was doing wonderfully for approximately a month in the NICU but developed an infection called NEC and succ_mbed to the illness on 08/31/05. My qestion to you is this, how long after a vertical/emergency cesarean did each of you wait to become pregnant again. My perinatologist said that after the first of the year we could ttc but my obgyn said to wait a year. So I am just curious about others who have had the vertical/emergency and the length of time you waited to ttc. Also, I was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix and that is why I went into labor.

God Bless you on your journey to acceptance and peace in regard to the most incredible loss a mother can have. I am glad your baby got to make his mark on this world and others got to know him so they could appreciate the tremendous loss you are suffering. Like the last poster said, since you know the reason for your very pre-term labor you will have the cerclage available to a__sist you in your next pregnancy. It is now March and I think you should be okay to try and conceive again. By the time your baby will be delivered at term it will have been over a year since Luke's birth. Prayers sent to you and your hubby (SO) for the strength and courage to go on and to attempt this again. You are a powerful and strong woman and it sounds like you will be a great mother again. I only hope those around you treat you tenderly and with understanding, for you so deserve all the support the world has to offer you. God Bless and keep you!

Hi ladies and thank you for your comments and encouragement. Yes I will be having a cerclage placed in all future pregnancy and will continue to have cesarean sections as well. My dream is to have 3 little boys...I am afraid if we have a little girl she will inherit my love for shoes and purses and we will have to each find second jobs. Anyway, I feel physicall ready to try again, but we will just play it by ear. Also, I do believe the diagnosis for Incompetent Cervix is the right one as I had painless dilation and was 4 cm dilated when I got to the er. I am unfortunately one of those who has never had any damage to my cervix and therefore the cause is unknown. Ladies, if any of you are pregnant and read this and you start having a heavier v____al discharge and it feels as though your childs foot is actually going to fall out, this may be a sign that your cervix is actually thinning out. Go to the doctor and get checked, please don't automatically think this is normal. Luke was my first pregnancy and I just didn't know there was even this condition. - L
