Hi! I was just wondering what the normal rules were for a VBAC? How far apart do your deliveries have to be? Any info would be helpful. I am only 9 weeks along and had a c-section last December because I was carrying twins and one was head down and the other was breech. My single baby is due May 25th and I would like to try a VBAC. Could it happen?

I've heard that opinions vary widely between different doctors/midwives. Shop around and try to find someone supportive of your decision. I'm taking Bradley method childbirth cla__ses and they're very supportive of natural births, so you might want to search for a Bradley cla__s and ask the teacher about finding a VBAC supportive doctor or midwife. Good luck!

I had a vbac with my second child but it was 3 years apart. They may not let you try it . They always worry about a ruptured uterus, which could kill you both. Sorry not to sound cruel. If they are ok with it, then go for it. Ithink that it depends on where you are also. I am in Canada, and I know that different rules apply in the USA, for diff. hospitals. Sometimes its an insurance thing that they won't let you. I have since had my third child natural also. Wow what a difference. I would definatly do it again natural before another c-section.
Take care

My SIL had a VBAC about eighteen months after her c-section. It took her awhile to find a doctor who would let her try, but everything went wonderfully! She had a great labor and delivery and enjoyed the experience. As long as you don't have any medical counter-indications, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to try at least. I would definitely look around for a doctor that is fully supportive however. Good luck!

My niece had a successful VBAC 18 months after her c-section. She did it at home which I would NOT recommend at all- thankfully it was ok. I was planning to have one after my first, but was found to have scarring of the cervix from a D&C and I can't dilate past 1/2 cm.- so that was out! But, I had found a doctor who was very supportive of my VBAC. There was a list of criteria to have a trial of labor and a list of things, that, if they would have occurred, would mean immediate c-section, so I'd start by finding a supportive doc and then go over their policy re: sections with them.

a lot depends on the circ_mstances from the first section (yours is obvious) and your docs opinion. i just had a vbac with my 2nd son (1 month ago). the boys are 2 years 4 days apart. i've heard recommended 2 years (birth to birth) apart is optimal for healing time (i just made that one!) my biggest advice is to make sure you are surrounded by people who support you including family, docs and friends. they are the ones who can help remind you what you want when it comes the the riggers of labor! i needed mine and i wasn't even in labor yet!
