I am pregnant with identical twins and my doctor says I will most likely deliver by c-section. This scares me. Should I be scared? How is the recovery process?

I had twin girls in Aug 06. I had a c-section also and it wasn't so bad for me. The worst part was waking up the next day in so much pain, but that got better after I was able to walk around. It will hurt to walk and move but it is so important. Don't be scared, be excited for your beautiful twins. How far along are you?

I have had 4 c-sections...each one was different as far as recovery goes. For me I go in about 2 hours before cut time. Fill out tons of lame paperwork, hook you up to monitors, start your IV. They give you this nasty drink, supposed to calm your stomach acids or something I think. Anyway, I normally get that while they are wheeling me into OR, and I puke so bad! Last time though, they gave it to me a little before being wheeled, and I didn't throw up during my c-section once. So I would request that if you have a weak tummy. Then it's cut time, and you are so nervous...but it's not that bad really. You can feel tugging and pulling, but that's it. No pain. It will be busy in the room with twins ( I have 3 year old boys) since there will be Ped. team for each one. get them swaddled, show you them, kiss them take a pic whatever you want. You get sewn back up, wheeled into your recovery/postpartum room. During that time, baby/babies, get bathed, and can come see you shortly. Recovery isn't bad either...I was walking around as soon as I could feel my legs...so like 12 hours later. I showered the next night, and even shaved my legs. For me, as long as you keep up on your pain pills, it's not bad really. Good luck! How far along are you?

Easy breezy, don't worry. C-Section was not painful at all. Recovery takes a little longer than a v____al birth. You will have some abdominal pain afterwards, but the hospital will give you pain killers, so don't worry. By the time you get out, the soreness will be a lot better. The hardest day is the day after the c-section, getting out of the bed, getting to the bathroom, etc. That can be painful, but not an unimaginable pain. It's tolerable. You'll be so excited about the babies, it will take a front seat to the soreness or pain, don't worry.
